What would you buy? PB10 or MWF-15

So AV123 decided to extend the BF sale on two MWF-15 which drops them down in the same price range as two SVS PB10 after shipping it looks like it would be around $200 more to go with the two MWF-15. I guess my question is, is this a lot more sub for the money, and is it worth it? I have the money to spend since they aren't for me. These are going in an ~4500 Sqft room. The owners seem like the type that would enjoy quantity of bass over quality. The speakers are KEF IQ series (IQ9, IQ6c, IQ8ds, IQ1) Has anyone owned/listened to both of these? Thanks, oh and I need to get these coming today...

I went from a using Axiom EP500 (12 inch) to two MFW-15s.

Deep and foundation shaking!

Your room is twice as big as mine.

Four MFW-15s would be even better.

Yes, while 4 would be better, the budget is running thin, luckily the subs are the last big thing on my list.

I would go with whichever can hit the lowest. You could always add more output with another, but they wont go any lower. Seeing how they only care about output then I guess it wouldn't matter. Ive heard the dual mfws and was blown away. I have nothing to compare it to though. Ive only heard my bic h-100 at loud levels.

I can't see two PB-10s having enough output to compete with two MFW-15s. I've owned the PB-10 and it is a great sub, but given this situation I would likely pick the MFWs also.

I'm late to the game...but I recently bought 2 MFWs. You won't be dissappointed. I have mine in a room that is about 5200 cubic feet and they can pound. It sometimes feels like the room itself can't contain them.

There is not doubt the MFW-15 is a better performer than the PB10 however the problems that are reported by people about the MFW-15 scare me enough not buy one or look at other alternatives that perform equally to the MFW and seem to be more reliable. On that note my next sub will be an SVS of some sort, most affordably for me probably just 1 PB10 (hopefully sometime after the holidays :)).

not to highjack your thread, but what if a pb ultra-13 was thrown into the equation? just curious to know whether or not the dual mfw-15's match or better the svs? anyone heard both to compare?

I'll try to find the post...it might be on another forum...but I thought there was a guy by the name of Ilka or Craigsub (can't remember which) that was doing comparisons on a lot of different subs. I might be wrong, but I believe the Dual MFW setup beat out a single ultra 13. I should probably confirm that before I post this...but I'm being lazy.

Craig has done a lot of side by side comparisons along with some measurements, Ilka does mostly objective measurements.

The problems are not actually that wide-spread. The biggest issue has seemed to be ground loop issues - requiring the use of a cheater plug. For the past several years, I've used the 240W Parts Express amps in one form or another. Finally, I ended up moving my DIY sub to another outlet - and I had a ground loop issue. They can, and do happen.

As far as "other" issues - well, there are a few here and there. However, the company, in my experience, has been great in dealing with any CS issues that I've personally inquired about.

Agree. The MFW's reputation for "having issues" is largely exagerrated. Especially for anybody who purchases now. There was an engineering problem that was identified and a change has been incorporated in how they build these subs. Since then I haven't heard much regarding "issues" with the MFW.

Ground loops have nothing to do with quality control issues and can happen with any sub that uses a 3 prong.

That being the case, why the hell would you use a 3 prong in your design then
3 prong power cords are used probably to pass some sort of saftey certification or code.

Ground loops are the cause of your own home eletrical ground problems it is not the subs fault.
