I've been reading a lot on the forums about everyone's preferenes for systems, and they always seem to take into consideration the cost of the product vs the preformance of the product. This is something we all do, but it makes me curious. What would your home theater system speakers be if you could get everything for free?

If upgrades were free, I'd build a new room and use the speakers I have now.

For free?

I would get the most expensive speakers and components out there.

Who wouldn't?

(1) perfect room (2) less likely perfect equip

My best HT system is in my den. I enjoy the sound ,the location and the openness. But from a perfect acoustic environment, and abiltiy to locat sepaekers, it is much less than perfect. I am with Davemcc, I would like to design a pefect room around my current equipment.

My other room, the medai room, is a converted beroom and is bascially a dedicated audio/video room. The acoustics are better but its orientation is different with PS2, PS3, Xbox360, Xbox, Wii, and Nintendo 64, DS light, ipod docking, remote keyboards, internet access all active.and all their associated controllers and CDs, etc. all over. Because of the "stuff" and the leather couches it is not conducive to my "Golden Enhancment' and there fore like the music room ( another story in itself  ) i usually do not particpate in the medai room except to fix a problem or hook something else up.

I would really like to try some Martin Logan speakers, some higher end B &Ws , or ideally some Wilson Audio   along with a nice solid sub, a Gotham g213. And I would rive it all with McIntosh pre-pros and amps. Now that would be really nice.

Kindling...it gets cold at night in Texas.;)
You know I have a feeling the Dawg won't let it go unless I get 5 B&W 802Ds and 1 B&W ASW855.:D

Okay, I tell you what. I won't buy the $3800 Denon DVD-A1UDCI. I'll save up the money and in 5 years, I'll get the B&W system.

But then it would get kind of boring, wouldn't it?:D

You have to get the B&W 802Ds. Now is the time before the kids go to college.

If I could afford it I'd love to have a dedicated room for a stereo. I don't even really know what I'd put in to it aside from some of my photos on the wall, a comfy chair, etc. Speaker wise I have no idea. I have listened to a number of speakers I liked for various reasons. I've always had a thing for Martin Logans but really I have no idea what I'd choose.

Hmmm dream system eh?

Well, I would definatley go with Sym Audio products as I find them asthetically pleasing to the eye and have good specs to boot. Then I would buy a new house with a dedicated audio/Ht room equipped witha cute redhead to pour me drinks and watch movies with me. :D

I would love to, but the Dawg is literally begging me for them. He doesn't want anyone to know that he loves Def Techs, though. So let's not tell anyone.:D

If it were a bad dream it would be bose.

If it where a good dream I would have infinity beta 50s for my fronts a 360 for my front rear put my beta 20s in the back with a couple more beta 20s.

Call me hooked but I just can't let go of my Beta 20s. I love them so much.

I'd probably go with something from Sonics by Joachim Gerhardt for speakers and one of those new JL Audio subs. I'd probably get Marantz separates to drive them but I'd probably leave my sources alone.
