basically the DLS-5000R but with improvements:

for one, the volume display
second, it has an auto EQ :)

and over here, the new 10" is about 300 bucks more expensive than the old 10"

i guess that's for the included mic and volume display

Thanks Mike. I find this very interesting. Do you think there will be any improvement in performance? I figured it might given how much competition there is out there right now.

Cheers,

Phil

unfortunately, i don't think velo changes their drivers or amps often ... it's more like a tweaked version of the previous model ...
i.e. CHT to DLS-R = remote control and DSP (looks to be the same driver, albeit a bigger amp for the 15)
DLS-R to DEQ-R = auto EQ, digital volume display (but looks to be the same driver and amp)

they seem to be completely comfortable getting just the b&m/BB market and their incremental improvements

I dunno, it's got 750WRMS and 1500 peak using one of their class D amps... that's a lot more then the old 5000R. Could be a dumb'd down SPL1500R driver.

I see. Wonder why Vann's does not list the weight? They usually do most of the time. Seems kinda strange. Thanks for the info.

Brian, you may have a point here. Guess it will be interesting to see once some reviews come out. They sure look different.

the DLS-5000R's have always had the SPL-R amp. 1000w ... problem is, the driver is 6 ohms. i guess that's why the DLS-R was previously listed at 600w and now it's 750w

I work at a printing company and I helped one of our reps land Velodyne as a client. We print their nameplates in our China division. I keep bugging her about asking them if I can get a discount on one of their subs, but she keeps "forgetting".

Hell, they do repairs about 20 minutes from our plant. I'll even take a refurb for a good price.

Phil,

You need to come and listen to dual MFW-15s!

Oh, don't I know. :p:p Maybe, you can come up my way and check out my dual LFM-1Pluses. I think you may be surprised just how good they are. When watching the Dark Knight yesterday, I literally thought my room was going to come apart.:eek: I had no choice but to turn my Pluses down. Even then, it was still awesome. Maybe soon I will come down and get a listen. Between work and my Mom being sick, I have very little time. I will be in touch.

Cheers,

Phil
