Family Guy Vs. The Simpsons

I like both, but I gotta say The Simpsons tops Family Guy. The humor in the Simpsons is just so much more clever. Hidden jokes within the plot all over the place. Not only that, its not all **** and fart jokes. The whole family can watch The Simpsons and laugh their asses off, where Family Guy is much more mature. Family Guy seems to have the same style of humor every episode, and the story lines are very bland and boring compared to The Simpsons.

I bet you can laugh at Family Guy with no volume, its that unintelligible.

Wait- more phart jokes than I remember hearing in 3rd grade is more mature?

When did one of the Griffin kids go after a Senator for taking bribes, after entering a speech contest in DC?

The Simpsons tends to have more obscure references kids would probably never pick up on.

I love Family Guy, but I have to say it's either really really really funny or it blows. The Simpson's are always pretty funny, but for whatever reason I get a bit annoyed if I watch it too much.

How can you say that the Simpsons if better then family guy, when all they're doing now it trying to copy it? A copy is never as good as the real thing.

Older Simpsons was great, but it's dead now. Also, I'm sick of people having this hatred for family guy for doing what they want. They pioneered their style, and most shows just copy it now. If you want to get mad at someone, you need to get mad at the shows giving up, and giving in to ratings.

Family guy also has some really obscure references that you need a fair bit of pop culture knowledge to understand.

I can't pick! It's like trying to decide who you love more, your wife or your kid? Both shows hold a special place with me. :D

If I had to pick between the two I would pick both. I really like both equally, when I watch tv I usually watch Imax programs, nature programs or one of these two. Oh, and of course there's Mucha Lucha and robot chicken can't forget those either.

Family Guy hands down - I did like the Simpson's a great deal back in the day, but when Family Guy came out it was so fresh and off the wall that I haven't been able to watch a Simpsons episode the same ever since. The humor just seems to have gotten stale and uninteresting. Yes, FG has a lot of slapstick and fart jokes, but the true genius of the show is in the tiny details that flood every episode, and the references to pop culture on a level that even South Park can't touch, IMHO. Seth McFarlane is today, the genius that Matt Groening brought to our senses when he introduced the Simpsons.

Yeah, but when they were at their best... man...

Therefore, I vote Simpsons. I'd rather watch a rerun of theirs than a FG show. Though some FG episodes have some utterly crass humor never found in the Simpsons, the sheer wit of the better Simpsons years was a revelation.

Never to be seen again, so far that I have found.

But, I don't really watch TV, so take that with salt.

I don't find either show as funny as they once were. I've moved on to Frisky Dingo and The Venture Bros.

Venture bros is great, but for that kind of odd humor I prefer Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law.

I own the first 5 seasons of The Simpsons, and plan to buy the rest. The one episode of Family Guy I have seen was pretty funny, but not enough so to get me to buy any season sets.

Both shows are not as good as they once were. Simpsons in its prime is the best cartoon of all time which makes it better than Family Guy. The Simpsons has declined significantly the past 10 years ( I do not even watch the newer episodes).

The best seasons of Family Guy were the first few seasons before the show was cancelled and cancelled again. Brilliance! Family Guy has declined somewhat but it is still enjoyable and watchable unlike the newer episodes of The Simpsons:mad:.
