That's what I thought too, I also was thinking it could be the output terminal on the reciever. I guess I will have to start with the wire. Since it's the cheapest to replace
Yeah, before you even replace it, just swap the left and the right of the cable (at both ends -- into the receiver and output from the CD player).
If the problem is now on the right, it's the cable. If the problem remains on the left, it's probably something to do with the input to the receiver.
Are you using the same device for both CD and DVD playback? If so, are you using a different cable for DVD vs CD input? Perhaps analog output for CD listening and some type of digital output (either optical or coax) for DVDs? If not, I would expect the same problem in the left channel for both CD and DVD.
