You must be joking, right? If not, then I would just honestly say that I would take the Infinity posted over that particular Dyn. The SV will eat them both for lunch.
Thanks a lot Zumbo, I had never actually heard a dyn so I didn't know anything about them.......but I have however heard the SVS and I agree they rock the house!!!

Don't get me wrong, Dynaudio makes some of the finest speakers. That little sub just isn't one of them.;)

Two of AV123's MFW-15s here.

Quite happy with price and performance.

Watch for BF specials!
+1

I have a cherry veneer MFW-15 and absolutely love it. No problems, lots of musicality, and lots of impact with movies. Great bang for the buck!

Wow, Infinity must have gone down a little as far as their subs are concerned. I remember a few years ago that the IL-120 was rated as the best sub under $1000 and Tom measuring the IL-100 @ 89db/20 hz and the Intermezzo 1.2 90db/16 hz. I'm sure the HSU's and the SVS are better, but I would have expected the Infinity offerings to be more than adequate.

As the title says I am looking for a good sub around $500, I can nudge the budget up or down just let me know what you have or what you would suggest.

I would like to get ahold of an SVS, HSU, Outlaw, ML, AV123, or any other brand that is really known for making killer subs.

These are not the true prices because AV123 does not include shipping in their prices. The final cost on that MFW-15 priced at $499 will probably be between $600 - $650 (there shippng charges are damn expensive). The MFW-15 has been plauged with quality control problems as well so that is something to note if anyone is thinking about ordering one.

Well that SVS sold before I could get it......so back to square one I guess.....I will have to check out some other options......its just so hard to get any sort of subjective comparison on a sub that I have never heard in person.

Hi Minus,

$120 is what I was quoted so $619 to me in PA. The shipping & handling is high but I'm sure you agree that looking at the bottom line to your door should be common sense for anyone buying anything.

Plagued is a little strong but they have had some issues. Not enough to keep me from taking the plunge though. I've done a lot of looking and just keep coming back to the MFW-15. I've seen first hand how customers are 10 times more likely to complain than complement and I'm seeing far more complements than complaints. Besides AV123 has stellar customer service.

Still stuff the OP needs to consider though and look in to himself.

Exactly my point. That is why I mentioned that because those listed sale prices are not the final price. Anyone not familiar with AV123 reading this thread would not know this. In some cases when you add S&H charges, this can put people out of their intended price bracket.

Ok guys screw it.....I'm sick of Audiogon and Ebay I've tried to purchase several items and the listings were out of date and already sold, just gonna order a sub....which one is better?

SVS PB10 NSD....or
Outlaw LFM-1 Plus

Oh and throw an HSU VTF-2 MK3 into the mix as well....

Hello, just thought I would chime in here. I have owned the PB10-NSD, and a Hsu 3.3 as well as the PB12-NSD. Currently, I own (2) LFM-1Pluses. As such, I must say you could NOT go wrong with ANY of those you mentioned. If funds are tight, I would opt for the one that is most affordable. Hope this helps and good luck with your decision. ;);)

Cheers,

Phil

Well.....you have had all 3 then.....what did you like the most and why?

Also drawbacks/downsides to each one would be great!!!

As someone who had an MFW on order earlier this year (until i was quoted nearly 400 for shipping) I have been following their progress since they started first shipping and they definetly have had their share of problems. Lately its been people with their rosewood subs showing up all dinged up with cracks at the joints and big dings in the corners, in my opinion due to insufficuent packing for their size and weight because it wasnt just one or two isolated cases and Before that it was the humming and seal issues with people stuffing socks in their subs. Its pretty clear people are more likely to complain than compliment but having also spent alot of time on the axiom forums for a number of years now and a number of new product introductions, I havent see anything like the MFW issues.

Anyone can say its blown out of porportion and so on but the facts are the facts.

Finally got around to taking some pics of the new place, only been moved in for 2 weeks so I don't have everything just right yet. And that includes installing RJ45 jacks in the walls to eliminate the wires running on the floor.
