Oppo 981 vs Panny 55

Hi: I'm wondering which player is at better up converting dvd's????Thanks for any help sorry if it has been asked before.

To the naked eye, I don't they we can tell the difference.

The Panny 50 did a great job with upscaling, and so did the Oppo 981.
The Panny 55 probably also does a great job.

But, if I were taking an exam and they asked me right now which has the better 1080p scaling per measured specs, I would probably pick the Oppo.

I had the dvi 971 (replaced by the 981 I think) and I'm currently using the panny bd55, IMO its just as good. The 971 has some issues with macroblocking due to the faroudja chipset that it employed and it drove me nuts in certain scenes. The panny dosen't appear to have these issues, at least in the limited time I've had it and it also plays BR discs.

Depending on your display, you might not want any player doing the upconverting
