Hooking up two Subwoofers to a Yamaha RX-V2700

Hi, I have a Yamaha RX-V2700. My previous subwoofer finally died and I am looking for a new subwoofer. I have Polk speakers all across so I was thinking about purchasing another Polk subwoofer. My question is instead of spending over $1000 to get a good subwoofer, will it be possible to get 2 $500-$600 subwoofers and hook them up to my RX-V2700? If so, what will I need? Appreciate your feedback in advance.

You could buy two lesser subwoofers. You are much better off getting one better subwoofer. But if you want to use two lesser subwoofers, you can simply split the LFE signal from one RCA cable into two.

A couple PB10NSD's would do the trick. Or, you could get one PB-13Ultra and have a really good single subwoofer. Then just add some bass management and be in Bass Heaven.

You don't say how large your room is.
But generally, using two or more subs evens out the bass response throughout the entire seating area.
One alternative would be to get a single better sub. and at some later time buy another identical sub. That way in the end you have two very good subs.

Or check out the online auctions. Harman's ebay store, you can bid on the JBL L8400P subs, which are 600w and very good for the price. I've heard of people getting those subs for less than $500 each. The list price is $1k.

Thanks fellas. Great info. It will go down to my basement. The room is around 500 sq ft. I am not familiar with PB10NSD.

Davemcc, you mentioned:
"LFE signal from one RCA cable into two". Will that cause any noise or signal quality issues?

DD66000, thanks for the ebay tip. I will check it out.

Using a coax cable is no problem using a Y to connect two or more subs.
And some subs you can daisy chain them together with the coax.

The only problem I've had with my system when setting the switch on the sub to LFE is I would get a 60htz hum when all the other speakers are connected to the receiver. If the switch was set to crossover then no hum.

But with a 5 channel amp in the mix, I don't get any hum, either way, even though the back channels are connected to the receiver. Its like the power amp is breaking the ground loop. Its strange.

I have run my subs that way with no issues. Just a couple of RCA Y-splitters and you're good to go.
