also use monoprice for your audio and video, don'y buy into the overpriced monster hype. I know you'll ask this so 16GA speaker wire would be what your looking for.
What are your plans for a receiver?

I know not to buy cables in retail stores. I use monoprice before too :)

thx for showing which cable to get though. There was many different audio cables there.

I still not too sure which rechiever to get. Still didnt look at the 3 brands the second guy said.

The more features the better I would assume.

Speakers i will get
SBS-01 7.1 Surround Sound Speakers with PB12-NSD - Black ** $1,299

Is there another place to buy the speaker and the sub other than the svsound place?
No, SVS makes them and they are an ID (Internet Direct) company. Your actually saving money buying direct. And they are high quality pieces. Call them on the phone about the speaker stands if interested, they are optional.

I am still deciding should I get it yet or wait. The rechiever that cost 2000 have network support. That might be nice maybe later they start making them have a built in media player.

other things you need

Ok on the svsound page

7.1 Surround Sound Speakers with PB10-NSD - Black**
$1,175 + $184 shipping = $1,359

Is that good speaker and sub combo? Or should I just get the 5.1 one?

Also if I get that I guess all i need left is the rechiever or is there other stuff I need to get?
this tells a little about ssurge protectors: http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/index.php/id;1939189413

this is the best power conditioner: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS303&q=apc+power+condtioner&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=1979058895478151919&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&resnum=1&ct=result#ps-sellers

Now as far as receivers you can get a good inexpensive one for as little as $199, the Yamaha 363. You need to decide how much power you need and if you need HDMI video upconverting.

good luck!

If you aren't looking to spend 1000 dollars on speakers.

I would suggest the Infinity Beta Series if you are on a budget. I have two beta 20s and a beta 250 center(ebay). They have great sound and can produce great volume. I also threw some KEF 2001.2 from craigslist on the back sides i'm very impressed with those speakers. They have a very clear sound and a very high WAF. and it makes a pretty sweet 6.1 system. I plan on adding a Dayton 10 or 12 inch.(depends on WAF) I have a SE-100 receiver I got for about 90 of ebay.

I love the system. I have been listening to cd's and watching movies with a new sense of appreciation.

If you want to go Bose you can get a used system off CL. I prefer infinity and Kef for it's looks and sound. Before you go all out on a new system I suggest you take a look at Ebay, reviews, and do demos. See what you prefer. Everyone's style/preferences are different. Of course I don't think you can go wrong with any recommendation on here. I doubt anyone here has a terrible system.
