Leave subwoofer "plugged in" for extended periods of time?

The Mirage owner manual states to unplug the sub from the wall outlet if the sub will not be used for extended periods of time...of course, it does not state what extended periods of time actually is. What damage or premature wear will result from not doing this?? Do other mfg's also recommend this practice? For the time being I am unplugging if I anticipate not using the sub for 2 days or more....is this reasonable?

I've never heard this, but I would have to guess you'd be looking more at something like weeks of non-use before I'd think you'd even need to consider unplugging it.

No idea.

The only time any of my equipment even gets turned off (other than the PJ downstairs and TV upstairs) is when I'm changing cables or there is a bad electrical storm. Other than that, it's nice and toasty and ready to rock all the time.

Every electronic device made currently that has a stand by mode state this. Of course not one says what and extended time period is, what damage may happen etc. But will say if your going on vacation for a week or 2 would be the answer.

No harm whatsoever. If you're going to be touring Europe for a month or whatever, it's always good to unplug sensitive and expensive gear -- not because it damages the equipment, but to reduce chance of damage due to electrical storm, etc.

Ive owned a Mitsubishi M-SUB10 since 1997 and I dont remember a day it was not plugged in (besides between moves of course) and it is still rockin'

Nearly every electronics owners manual I've seen has a statement similar to that. I wouldn't fret over it.

As a manufacturer of powered subs, I can tell you the others are right . . . don't worry about it. IF you're going to be off on vacation, it isn't a bad idea to unplug electronics . . .but I never do and I've never had problems.

Can anyone give me some info about the Mitsubishi M-10 subwoofer? I also have the M-VR800 receiver which works great, but all I get is a low hum from the subwoofer. Any settings I need to make here? Thanks
