Denon 2809 switching issues

Hi Everyone,
I am a newbie Home Theater person. After much research, I purchased a Denon 2809 which is connected to my Infinity TSS-1200 speakers.
My PS3, and Comcast cable box are both connected to the Denon through HDMI cables.

Almost every time I turn on the TV, to watch my favorite show, I always get no picutre or the 'snow' picture. This happens either when the Denon is off or when I turn it on to use the Infinity speakers for sound.

The only way I resolve this issue is to change the cable box channel, and the picture comes back. Sometimes, even changing the channel does not work.
This issue also happens when I make an input change from cable box to PS3/DVD.
Is there something wrong with the Denon, or did I not hook up something correctly?
I would greatly appreciate any advice because this is driving me nuts!
Thanks,
Tommy

How did you hook things up? Sounds like an HDMI handshake issue verifying those infernal HDCP codes.

Hi TLS Guy,
Thank you for the prompt response! What do you mean about 'how I hooked them up'? From my understanding, just hooked one part of the HDMI cable from the PS3 and cable box, to the inputs of the receiver.
The PS3 is hooked up to the DVD input, and the cablebox to the HDP input.

Also, could it be an HDMI cable issue? I know that this receiver is supposed to have the latest HDMI specs. Could it be that I would need to purchase 'newer' edition HDMI cables?

Thanks,
Tommy

That is certainly possible and in fact quite likely. I would purchase an HDMI 1.3 certified cable. Check out Blue Jeans cable.

I have never had a handshake issue with the PS3 and I have used it with a few different AVRs from Yamaha and Denon.

I did have an issue with my sat box and a simple change to a BlueJeans cable corrected the issue.

I notice you said at times you leave the Denon off, are you using a reduntant cable from the TV to the sat box for this?

I would reconnect everything one at a time, re-check the assignments and see what happens. New cables would be my next step.

Hi guys,
I just received my Blue Jeans HDMI cables and it seems to have fixed the issue!
