Does anyone know the prices for Dyn Contour line

You can definitely start with monitors. Look into the excite series I believe the X12 is $1200 and the center is $850. You should be able to get all 5 speakers for around $2500. The great thing about excites are they are easy to drive so you wouldnt need a powefrul amp to drive them-most midrange priced receivers should do. Most dealers have a trade in policy so you can work your way up to the contour line if you like.

Sorry for the double post but...

Yeah, I was actually looking for towers in the $2000 or so range. My wife would **** if I came home with $10000 speakers. I would love it she would not. I know Dyn is superb quality I just can't afford them hoping they wouldn't be that drastically expensive.

I guess I could just but A center huh?!?;)

Tell her they cost $2000 but they have been out for service for so long she forgot about them. Then, make a list of all of her shoes and ask how much they should be insured for.

Look at the Excite line. The Dyns are expensive but they are a value in their price classes, in my opinon.

I bet part of these price increases is the exchange rate is/was making it difficult for them.
It coincides with that pretty well and he said they held off on the increase as long as they could.

I have "not" auditioned the Dynaudio Focus series. But from what I understand from several that have auditioned side, by side. These are the next best thing.

...also note that those are retail prices, you'll get a considerable amount off that after you negotiate in the store. Especially in this market, where I doubt all the costs are being passed on by the time its negotiated.

Funny you say that I was reading this post than popped up the Focus 360's on Dyn's site and my wife came into the room. She has seen theses twice and both times and said "OOOH I like those!"

I think I will go with the Conseqeunces though.;)

Oh and I will be auditioning the Dyn's at a dealer early next month. I can't wait, even if I can't afford them I will still be able to bask in their glory. Maybe if I shove my 45. cal in his face I will get a discount.

Was that you, who mentioned Hi Fi Fo Fum? If you go there, ask if they were originally in Milwaukee. We had a place with the same name but they left/closed in the early-mid '70s.

The Focus 360 is a beast! That thing is so heavy and well built and extremely musical. I doubt you will be able to audition the 360 as early as next month as I believe there is only ONE prototype in the USA and it is here in Illinois at Dynaudio. Just a friendly advice, when you audition the Dyns; make sure you start at the dealer's lowest line and work your way up as you will get ruined fast and find it so hard to listen to the lower end ones after you listen to the mid to higher end Dynos.

Yep that was me. I will ask if I remember but with all the ear and eye candy it will be hard to remember that.:D

Do you work at Dyn in ILL, if so how's about bringing that 360 down here so I can listen to it in MY room, we all know room acoustics vary so much right.:D
Oh, and don't tell me, it's like $3000 right.

No I don't work for Dynaudio but I know people and have hook ups:cool: I wish it was 3k but its $6500. Worth every penny IMHO. When your Dyn dealer has the 360, you can take it home for a demo.:D

I just found their website and it has to be the same people. They have the little guy with the treble clef in his ear and the quarter note on his head.

Hey Dono, there are plenty of guys here in town with Dyn setups to listen too. A couple of the Dyn owners regularly host events ... the most recent get-together was at the Confidence C2 owners house.

Yeah I know, I couldn't make it, plus I felt kinda werid asking to go. I had just found that website and I don't know any of you. Maybe next time. I did see the setups on audiocircle that were at that get together. Very nice, very nice indeed.

mmmm... scan air circ tweeters... yuummm

You guys have got me interested in their home audio stuff. I've used Dyn in my car and thought it was great gear. Luckily, I know a dealer and have sent him a lot of business. Enough to where he's cut me great deals... typically about 25-40% off online prices (which are unauthorized). I'll have to send him an e-mail and ask him about pricing for some of the Dyn home audio gear. I had originally planned to DIY some scanspeak towers (pay dealer price on the drivers. :)), but if I could get the Dyns for a decent price, I might do that.

Honestly you'll probably get better results with one of the DIY designs using Scan drivers. I personally think Dyn's are VERY overrated, they all (except for the Sapphire) have a bloated mid-bass which is their house sound ... and it obscures lots of detail. They're musical, but not much of a window into the recording. From my experience they don't image that well either, everything pretty much stays in the same broad area in the middle with a few sounds coming from the outer edges.

When we A/B compared my Cirrus monitor to the Confidence C2's I thought it was no comparison. Sure the big C2 has more bass and impact, but in every other aspect a solid DIY design could beat it.

Thanks for you opinion.

I've never heard their H/A line. I think my nearest dealer is 3 hours away. I'm too far away from actually purchasing anything; I'm just keeping my options open. More than likely, I'll wind up going DIY. But, it's possible that by the time I'm done building my house I'll just want to order some dang speakers and say 'screw DIY'. ;)

Honestly, the little aperions I have are pretty decent. Especially if you consider they were recently going for $80/each.
