Hi. How do you have the PS3 connected to the receiver? I think that the only connection that will allow you to send the uncompressed codecs by bitstream is HDMI.

EDIT: Also, which receiver are you using?

PS3 does not support bitstream of TrueHD and DTS-HD/MA. You have no choice but to have the PS3 decode the sound.

Like they said above, you have to use the PS3 to decode and send it as linear PCM. It will show up as multi-channel on the AVR display. Hit the display of the PS3 and it will show you that it is DTS-MA or DD-HD.

This bugged me too so I changed the DVD input name to "BLU-RAY" to make myself feel better.

Tank You ParadigmDawwg ,I did the same thing on the Denon Receiver, I rename Dvd to Blu ray,And You are right it show up multichannel input and the PS3 Display Tru Hd and DTS-MA ,But When I use the Samsung Blu Ray Player ,The Denon Decode to much better, the volume at 28Db is powerful and with the PS3 I have to pump the volume to 15Db and I lose a lot of surround effects,So I think there is no a perfect Blu Ray Player out there Now! any recommedations ,

weither the ps3 does the decoding or the reciever decodes it. the sound is the same.connect with HDMI. and set bd option to pcm linear. the little light wont come on on the reciever, but if you push select on the ps3 remote durring playback you will see that it say truehd or dts-master.
