is Runco worth it?

Check out Planar. My neighbor's boss who is doing a major upgrade has been looking for a new PJ. Hw's kinda resigned himself to the $30K Sim2, but he said the demo he saw of the Planar was amazing, but it didn't quite resolve as well as the Sim on a 12 foot screen. If you don't have a screent that big, most don't, you may want to check it out.

Both HT Mag and Sound &Vision have done reviews on the Planar. I think oe of the comments was that he'd be happy having it as his reference pj.

It's worth a look anyway.

I'm surprised no one has offered up Marantz. HT Mag did a reveiw on that one as well and just gushed about it. MSRP is $12K but it's my understanding you can get it at a good discount.

Planar seems intelligent, but they very much exactly the core of Runco. Nice looking projectors that they seem to know absolutely nothing at all about.

In their recent purchase of Clarity - which was a huge commercial supplier of video wall displays, they completely destroyed all information on all existing product, and basically got rid of the Clarity name, while losing the entire base of customer support at the same time.

Phenomenally stupid company, with some nice products.

Makes sense they own/bought Runco.
