You know i really like how all your speaker veneers match, looks really cool :D unfortunately i could not get any in cherry as they were already all gone and went with the rosewood instead, which is also really nice :D but does not match my remaining speakers. Another purchase at the hand of a great sale  a student like myself is a sucker for such sales
I've been frugal in my speaker purchases as well. :) I do like the Rosewood (yours look great), but I've found that the maple is much easier to acquire inexpensively. :)

I picked up the opus front stage for $900 (including the center). I've ordered replacement drivers for all three speakers (8" bass driver, 5" midrange, and tweeters, from IAG direct) as a precaution (I've replaced one of the midrange speakers on the left front Opus1). The replacement drivers are inexpensive.

wow , you should know in New Zealand where i live the OPUS 1 retails for about $2500 which in US dollars is currently about $1800, so you got a good deal and i am unsure of the center as it was not at the shops when i was in the market.

Most hi fi and electronic products are alot more expensive here because we are so far away from the rest of the world.

My internet bill is $40 US every month for 20GB downloading and uploading. How does that compare to you guys over there. And i will guarantee you its %^&*$% slow compared too probably even the worst plan you guys got  poor old New Zealand needs an upgrade. Made playing xbox 360 online an interesting experience when playing with about 1 second lag on Gears of War (first person shooter type game)

I just received and installed this new amp that I'm using to drive the Opus 1s, but I am not using decent interconnects (monoprice rcas). I haven't done much else besides cleaning up the wiring and the new amp.

Snappy, I think the Opus tri-center retails for $1200. :)

Thanks Craig! :D

I'm actually swapping it around with a nad 2100 that I'm bridging (the adcom seems a bit harsh and I want to see if it's the cables).

I'm having some trouble figuring out the speaker connections to bridge this four channel 2100 into two channel.

Thanks CG!, when compared to a majority of other systems here it is modest. :)

You can't have it Yetti! :p

I bridged both of the NAD amps, so the 902 is running the left channel and the 2100 running the right (sounds awesome).

:D

I've picked up a NAD2155 and a NAD 2600A. Both will be bridged mono to drive the mains, at the moment I only have the 2155. I placed a velvet curtain behind the tv (the amps are not going to be placed on the tv rack (temporary). I also placed a bass trap in the left corner (not viewable). The difference in sound is amazing!

Rogozhin, I don't know what kind of deals you picked up on those amps, but man, trust me, get a new TV stand. Build one. Hire someone to make it. Anything. Get that center OFF THE FLOOR!

The improvement will be so huge, you will give me a bear hug if you ever met me. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I think the biggest improvement, by far, will be the reduction of midbass boost. After that, I think even height of speakers you will also enjoy GREATLY, but maybe not as much as you would enjoy greatly improved dialogue.

IMO, this should be #1 priority, with blinders on in regards to anything else that might be whetting your appetite. cheers

Nice set-up. What size is the monitor? :)
Thanks croseiv. :) It's a little 37", but a few members have suggested going with a projector, so this little guy will go to the spare bedroom once the upgrade occurs.

You are correct, I'm going to have to figure out a way to mount that center channel closer to the height of the mains. I think the easiest way to do this would be to build a riser for the TV (a block of solid maple) so that the center could then sit on the top shelf.

No hugging! :p

Thanks JM.

Nice! For me that will be the next "big" upgrade (a projector and large screen). Probably in the next couple of years. I've already been giving some thought to how I want to implement it in my present space. :)

Thanks Adam (you're very welcome, I had promised Craig a picture of them in the new home), Speakerman, Jamie, Jm, and Ej for the compliments on my small setup!

I cannot move the center up a shelf because of the metal rods that support the top shelf, I emailed sanus about the dimensions of this particular av rack and though they could give me shelf dimensions of the facia I had to take a gamble (clearance from audioadvisor for this $280 rack @ $100). I'm tempted to purchase a solid maple 4" riser for the base to move that center closer to the mains.

I have two crappy chairs that I'm using at the moment, but we've ordered an Ikea couch. :D

I purchased a blue-ray player that bitstreams the lossless formats because I've not been impressed with my PS3's PCM output.

The center is curved (Opus Center) so it can't support the TV. :(

I am thinking of moving the whole system to the wall on the right (where the SVS is located) when the couch arrives.
If the center is rounded.. you could probably prop up the front with something triangular to aim it a bit. I did that before with a center I had.

Nice setup, those cones look bullet-proof!

EDIT: Wait, I see that the center is only rounded on the top.

Thanks sheep. :)

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to get that center up closer to the tops of the mains. I could pull out the glass shelf that the amps are on and use a wood riser (sitting on the 3rd shelf) on which I'd place the center, that way the center would basically be sitting on the 2nd shelf. hmm.
