i'm looking for an overall decent sounding speaker for music and ht. my choices are polk rta 8t, klipsch sf1, klipsch KG 3.5, and polk r50. i listen to mostly metal, and for movies it's horror, action, and war. this system is going into a small/medium bedroom. for power i have a yamaha htr-5890 7ch. my sub is mediocre... a sorry kennwood 100 watt 8". i plan on getting a better one soon. for the 4 speakers mentioned above, please let me know which would be best for me. please do not give me anyother suggestion for different speakers. i'm on a tight budget. all of the speakers are listed off craigs list. thanx

Of all of them I like the Polk rta 8. I don't like the klipsh sound at all. I owned a pair of polk 50's and sold them.

i was leaning toward the polk rta 8's and the klipsch sf1... the guy with the rta 8's is asking for both $100... the fs1 $200

I do not like the hi end of the Klipsh at all. I can't imagine listening to metal with them. My ears are bleeding just thinking about that.

Klipsh are so overated. and they sound really harsh and make your ears fatigued

Your best bet is polk or want the best go for Kef. Those little black eggs are awesome and give out huge soundstage. They're great with music and movies. You can find really nice deals on ebay and craigslist on the black or older model silver eggs.

got good news for ya. Velodyne are clearing out their current line like the Impact and DSP series. One call is clearing the Impact mini for $400 free shipping. if that's too much for you check ebay for used DSP-10's, CHT-8, Impact 8 for around $200 and under. You seriously cannot do better and have awesome powerful bass for those dirt cheap prices $200-300.

It's all subjective.

That's like asking us to tell you what your favorite flavor of ice cream is.

With Craigslist, you have to act fast. Odds are by the time you post a query and get a response, they're gone.

With speakers, try 'em all, one at a time. Just make sure that you keep all receipts and packing materials when you have 'em.

Personally, none of those listed impress me. Keep an eye out for Black Friday sales and you might have more choices soon.

I also dislike the low end Polks.

What bandphan said.

Guys, he didn't say he wanted good speakers for classical chamber music. He specifically mentioned:

-Metal
-Horror
-Action
-War

I think the OP should at least listen to the Klipsch, for if he likes them, he can have high SPL and impact, all without the need for huge amps.

Fanboy:rolleyes: Speakers are subjective and to make statments like the ones above is pure jibberish;)

Klipsch makes some fantastic speakers, just that maybe you dont like them.

why do I feel im talking to some schmoe :)

Back to the OP, Just listen to the speakers and determine what you like. The reason to do is we all hear differently, and what might be harsh to some might not be to others. Good luck and check the deals section:)

I LOVE that movie!

Some great quotes came from that movie.

Pete: Wait a minute. Who elected you leader of this outfit?

Ulysses Everett McGill: Well Pete, I figured it should be the one with the capacity for abstract thought. But if that ain't the consensus view, then hell, let's put it to a vote.

Pete: Suits me. I'm voting for yours truly.

Ulysses Everett McGill: Well I'm voting for yours truly too.

[Everett and Pete look at Delmar for the deciding vote]

Delmar O'Donnell: Okay... I'm with you fellas.

Me too. All of the Coen films . . .

"Well, I don't want Fop, ******* it! I'm a Dapper Dan Man!"

"He done R-U-N-N-O-F-T!"

"Damn! We're in a tight spot! "
