Stephen Lynch Fans?

Well, after two days of post election reactionary freefalls in the market, I'm just burned out here sitting at my desk analyzing numbers.

I'm sick of politics and the economy and tired of trying to strategize and come up with new models to work in this environment. So, this morning, I dug a little deeper into my center console and pulled out my Stephen Lynch disc and laughed my a$$ off the entire way to work singing and smiling.

For those of you who don't know, Lynch is a singing comedian who really has quite an unbelievable voice and sings these outrageous songs. They're offensive, but not in an offensive way if that makes sense. It's not gratuitous in it's vulgarity I guess and it's just funny as all get out.

Some of my favorites:
Craig Christ (a song about Jesus' brother Craig)
Vanilla Ice Cream (a song about a white guy who likes black girls)
She's Got a Smile (a song about the fat chick that's seemingly always there to meat-block you from her hot friend)

From your description, it sounds like a riot, my kind of humor. Are you thinking of the word "irreverent" to describe his songs?

That's almost too big a word to use this early. I'm basically on vapors from 7 to 10am. :D I think, however, I will use that in a meeting later today. Great word, Dave.

But yeah, it's a good description. I mean the disc is offensive. It's not f this f that, but the songs are just about topics and have lyrics that push the envelope a bit, but again, not in a gratutitous way. They're actually quite good in their own right.

For example... here are some lyrics from a song call Delta Chi which is about a professor who hooks up with students. I'm doing this from memory, so bear with me... the one verse goes:

Tutoring in her apartment ---- turns into a slow dance
Hey baby what's your minor ---- got your major in my pants
I love her student body ---- she wants a better grade
I say if you roll over ---- I'll throw in financial aid

I mean it's crude but clever and he's got this great voice and the song itself with him playing accoustic guitar just makes it that much better. I've seen him live about 3 or four times and it's just hilarious... espeically the banter between the songs.

You might want to bring up the "Sensational Alex Harvey Band" song "Next" and give it a listen. They have several songs along that vein and the music is not too bad either.
