I don’t know if I can answer your questions, because I am not a student of the bible or active in an organized religion. You know how Jehovah’s Witnesses come to your house and give you bible literature to read. Well, it’s not my religion, but I sat down and read it. It was a good read and I got an understanding from it, so what I say may not be right out of the bible, but a particular flavor of their religion or I might have got it all wrong.

God exists, he is still watching, and he is benevolent, but in the past he has dealt out some severe punishments, such as flooding the world/ Noah’s ark. In the end there will be judgment day.

My understanding from the literature is that the Angel Lucifer challenged God over who could better rule heaven. God cast him down to earth and is letting him rule earth as a test case to see if he can do better than God. We are supposed to be in this time period. God is not causing bad things in your life, Lucifer is doing that or it is randomly happening. If you pray to God, he might intervene unseen and help you though. This test period concludes in the end of days out of the bible. After that God will remake the earth. The rest you will have to look in the bible.

But under this oversimplified scenario, it is possible to understand what is going on and why bad things happen and why it may look like God is not here. I don’t think God is responsible for Gays because he finds them detestable. Why would he create something he detests? If man can alter (or perfect) genetic codes, then surely God and Lucifer could also.

I apologize to more knowledgeable bible people in advance if I got this idea wrong. Feel free to step in and correct as you see fit.

So..... what you're saying is....
Correct me if I'm wrong here: Not that there's anything wrong with that?:p

I see three conclusions; God does not exist; God is no longer watching and moved on a long time ago; or God isn't benevolent which makes me question his/her's true motives.
I'll offer a fourth: God is tapping his buddies' shoulders saying, "Hey look at this silly s**t they're up to now!"

Joking aside, I stand by my belief that homosexuality goes against natural law. Let's take out the references to the Bible, God, religion, morals, etc. - in its most simplistic form, sexuality is the mechanism by which any given species is able to reproduce and ensure continuation. This is only accomplished by the union of one male and one female specimen of that species, be it man, wolf, elephant, bear or walrus. I'm not offering a biology lesson on things you all already know, but I do offer this as Exhibit A in this debate, to be used as a known scientific data point.

Now, the debate continues on while introducing morals, decency and God's Will. All things developed from this single data point referenced above, back when even early man could distinguish between why it is acceptable to procreate with a member of the opposite sex, and why, spun through a kaleidoscope of ideologies and theological concepts that turned it into a moral issue.

So, now here we are thousands of years later debating whether or not it is a human's right to defy not only this moral issue, but the natural law that lies underneath. In this day and age, there are perversions much more severe than simple homosexuality - but, at the same time, the question remains where do we eventually draw the line between what is right and wrong in this predominantly Godless age, and why should we do it? When does right become wrong? Discuss.

No, your seriously a wanker.

I was watching an interview the other night with Obama and some kid asked him about his gun policies and he said something along the lines of "I want to get guns off our streets, the guns that cause violence, but I'm not against the 2nd amendment and I don't want to ban handguns nor do I think I could accomplish that if I tried in office"... that wasn't word for word, but, basically the jist.
And you believe him? Then I can assume you don't know what's in the Global Poverty Act, or Obama's ties to it ...

He did do a brilliant job of reinventing himself into a palatable choice.

Name calling in Sunday school is wrong.

Hey Darien,

I'm happy for both of us. All three of us if you count Osama (oops) Obama. :D
I know a good ole boy down in OK and already started riding him about this black business. I sent him a message saying welcome to Soul Train. :D

I'll be the first to admit that if I was black I would have supported him just because he's black. That may sound wrong but so what? What are the chances of him doing worse than you know who? I personally support him because the democratic party is more favorable to labor.

You know any black people that voted against him? A black republican? :D

Go ahead and gloat. If not now, when? :)

I took from it that he thinks gun control is too loose but knows that he and his party can't alienate gun owners anymore if they want to get elected. We have basically undone what democrats did during the Clinton years. And even after the Virgina Tech shootings they didn't propose a bill. Over the summer the Supreme Court ruled the 2nd amendment as being "for the people." I'm seriously not worried about the 2nd amendment right now. I'm going to keep an eye on it, but I think it's safe.

I mean, what more do you want from it? I can already go and buy automatic weapons, silencers and body armor legally. You want a bazoka or something?

Global Poverty Act? I'll show my ignorance. Nope, You got me.

The 2nd amendment? I'm not sure how you feel that's relevant. If your suggesting that any President, with or without a friendly congress, would have the power, the will, or the desire to have an amendment that has been misinterpreted, misquoted, and watered down over the past couple hundred years stricken from the books; I'd say your in for a long argument.

I'm not a gun owner or a hunter. So my feeling the matter would be biased and irrelavent.
Just Google and see for yourself, if you care. And the Supreme Court only passed the recent 2nd Ammendment challenge 5-4 ...

I never understood the moral policing of peoples that don't need/should be morally policed.

Proposition 8 wasted California taxpayer time and $$.

Isn't it the Mormon church that backed this initiative?
As a minority and a Mormon I never got that memo.
I guess sometimes those of us who think we are the most liberal and open minded need to realize that racism is racism regardless of color and making a blanket assumption about someones actions based on what faith they are especially if it's one they don't share or understand shows a lot of prejudice.
While my church doe's not condone homosexuality it's never taught me or anyone I know to be intolerant of or to assume someone should be considered evil or " the enemy" because of their sexual preference's or religion.

Because if I tell you what's in the bill (that Obama has sponsored), you'd just say I'm overreacting.

I'd like to think that you would do a little research on your own, but for you to say you're not worried about the 2nd Ammendment tells me that you're not interested in knowing the real Obama. He has a long history of statements and actions that make me believe he's the most anti-gun mainsteam politician this country has ever seen. But what I'm asking you to Google spells out a hard timeline for disarmament of citizens.

“But I am not going to be so presumptuous as to tell someone else what they can and can't do with their life. Religious people are free to be as religious as they want. Just don't bring your bible-banging ways around me.”

I am also not so presumptuous to tell someone else what they can and can’t do with their life. Just relaying a law from God. It’s a sign of the times that more and more people are failing to believe in God or the Bible. More or less foretold to happen.
I just want to clear one little thing up...

God, can't make, LAWS.

This was one of four big issues with me during this election as Obama has a very clear history for voting against gun ownership. I'm not scared he is going to try and take my 2nd Amendment rights right out from under me but he has already shown his intentions to make it even more difficult for law abiding citizens to purchase firearms or ammunition.....and legally protect yourself with one.

He is without a doubt one of the most anti-2nd Amendment rights President in history.

What an *******, asking for training so people don't kill themselves.

If no one has a gun, no one would NEED a gun. I've gone 21 years so far without shooting a gun (or owning a gun), and no one mugs me.

You're right. No one NEEDS a gun. Perhaps to stay alive, but that depends on if you consider that a necessity.

Not all attackers use guns. Some use knives, fists, hammers, or whatever. I weigh about a buck forty soaking wet. If some 200-pound guy decides that he's going to kill me, I'm pretty much out of luck unless I have a technological advantage. Enter the gun. It's represents stopping force, IMO. A force that I don't intend to utilize unless there is a clear and present danger to me or mine. Someone breaks into my house, I'm not going to try to end their life for stealing my TV. If they try to harm me or my dog, though, and I can get to my gun...I'm going to fire until the threat is neutralized. I'll be scared as all get out, and I sure won't savor it, but I'll do what I have to. If I was a big guy, then I'd really on physical defense. With my size, I have no confidence in that.

I would be wise to invest some time into learning a martial arts to prepare me for the vast majority of my life in which I'm not armed, but...heck, man...I sit around typing on this forum all day. :)

I used to work out and was in pretty good shape, but (and I'm sure like a lot people my age) I haven't kept up with it as much as I'd like. I would pack on the weight, but there are some advantages to being too lazy to eat. :)

Hm, I guess visually some people can't prevent muggings, but at 205 I really don't see it as a problem. Someone tired to mug my brother when he was out jogging (different city) with nothing but fists. I'll explain that my brother weights about a buck 185, and benches 270, so fists don't scare him. He broke the guys leg (hyper-extended the knee) and then broke his jaw with a punch.

Personally, if I had to defend myself, I would rather use my fists given the option :) More satisfaction.
