This is a live 311 dvd that I recorded and mixed. Just wanted to throw something up in case nobody has heard of 311.

Very cool, Jamie! Thanks for posting this. It's nice to know more about what you do.

EDIT: When I posted this, there was one video. Now there are two. Excellent!

Ya got me Band I don't know what happened to the DVD once I was finished mixing it. The camera crew were friends of the band, so they the camera ops and producers were not pros. For example when I got to the venue to set up for the recording I asked the A1 camera guy to run a "black burst" to make sure we were synced on all cameras with the word clock. His response was WTF is "Black burst"..I was in shock that the "pro video" guys didn't know what a black burst is. It could of been much better of a shoot but they were cheaper than the Pro guys I had lined up. So to answer your question I have no idea what the Producer did about the Syncing of the clocks. I do know that the 2 guys I asked about syncing the clocks had no idea what black burst was, and that is a standard for video syncing with audio...I ended up quitting 311 because I was supposed to get a point from the sales of the DVD. I had a contract set up with my lawyer and the band refused to sign it saying "you are gonna be our soundman for the next 20 years we don't need a contract" and me being the trusting sucker that I am went with the handshake deal..Stupid me for trusting an 8 years relationship with "friends". I learned my lesson on that deal. The DVD has since gone 3x platinum and from my records the band owes me 182,000 bucks at this point. I have talked to a few lawyers about this and have been told that I have a very winnable case. I have not done anything yet as I am not sure how that would effect my career as a touring soundguy. On one hand it could be good for me meaning Managers of bands would say that guy stood up for himself, or I could be blackballed for sueing a band that I worked for for 8 years. Tough desicion for me as its been 2 years since this happened...Sorry about the long winded response.. Jamie

Wow Jamie, this group is very good. I really enjoyed listening to all of the guitar work. The bass player is very good. The drummer can flat0out get down. Great job of mastering Jamie! Never knew you were this talented my friend. Kudos to you. ;);)

Cheers,

Phil

Thanks Phil. They really are one of the best live bands out there. We would play 20,000 seat ampitheatres and sell them out with no record out. They have a HUGE underground following. They were also the first band to combine the rock rap genre back in 91.....Thanks for the complement Phil....

I've always like 311. They can really rock, but can also play in a very laid back California style (at least, that's what I'd call it).

I added that concert to my Netflix queue last night. I almost bought it from Amazon, but figured that I'd rent it instead. Thanks again for posting this, Jamie. I think that it's very cool that you mixed and recorded that. It sounds great on my computer over YouTube - I can't wait to hear it on my system off of DVD!

The dvd is not in surround. However, PLII MUSIC does a fantastic job with this one. Once you hear it, you will be certain Jamie knows a thing or two about SQ.

It is a two dvd set. The people at the concert were pretty lucky. After you watch the first dvd, you pop-in the second one to find-out the concert has been exactly three hours and eleven minutes. You have another whole dvd to watch.

Geez Jamie they are good. Kinda reminds me of Sublime in a way. They also at times remind me of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers mostly from the bass player. Great job Jamie! Thanks for exposing us to what you do. ;);)

Cheers,

Phil
