So my opinion is not valid then? Just trying to clarify what you're saying.

No, but saying his personal preference is "worthless" and "without merit" is not called for. It's rare enough to get member reviews around here and this type of feedback won't help the cause.

Ok guys.... lets take this down a notch....

The Audio world and sound is extremely subjective from one person to the next... Not every speaker or sub is for everyone, and everyones ears are made differently... Some peoples ears can't handle what the next persons does...

Lets take for instance... RMK! is selling off all 4 of his JL Audio subs, 2 F112's, and 2 F113's, and while some might view his decision as being totally off his rocker, he is on a journey to find what subs work the best for him...

Now I am on the side that says he is totally off his rocker... :) but its his setup and his ears that he is pleasing, so who are we to say what is better sounding to him...?

In my journey of spending money on products, I have found that I prefer sealed over ported over the years now, and if I need more sealed subs to reach the depths, where ported has been shown to be more efficient, then so be it... I will build more subs... I have 2 - 18's and 2 -15's lined up all for sealed builds, and I'm am pretty confident I will be happy with the results.

If they sound anything close to the JL F112 I have, I will be thrilled.... I have a feeling they may just surpass it... but in the end.... All this is really just subjective... :)
Hummm, off my rocker... is that an ageist comment?:p;)

The most recent re-tooling of my system is to get it as close as possible to a big theater sound. I have found that does not necessarily need to include hyper expensive pretty boxes. I have been trading them for some very capable big ugly boxes that produce a big clear sound and are much less expensive. I don't know how much more succinctly I can put it.:)

Hey RMK!, I'm just poking a bit of fun at ya buddy... :D

I can whole heartily agree, you don't need to spend gobs of money at this, there are many ways to skin a cat... I bought my F112 to get a feeling of its capabilities, and I have a great respect for everything it does so effortlessly, and it also gave me a whole new appreciation for what sealed subs can provide. Now to put that up against my DIY build... and make some comparisons. DIY will give me multiple larger subs for the price of a single F112.

Just a note on the EP 600. I have owned (and heard) a lot of different subs over the years and the EP 600 stands out as one of the best sounding subs I have owned. There are a lot of hobbyists who live and buy (;)) based upon measurements alone. In my expierence, measurements only tell part of the story. The 600 had a distinctive growl to it that made the lowest audible bass frequencies (20hz or so) sound very cool and it's total (usable) output was the equal of many much more highly regarded subs. Most of the 600's critics have never heard it but then that's an all too common story on AV Forums, isn't it.

Not that I'm in the market right now, but I would love to hear the EP 800 at some point.

Hey RMK, well said, and I agree. Measurements are a good start, but don't always tell the full story. In the end it's about what sounds good to each person anyway.

I'll let you know how the EP800 compares when it arrives. ;)
