I love your hardwood floors. They are beautiful.

Do you mind telling me where you got them?

Nice job on the room all around. :D

Thanks!!!

Where I got the floors???

We had this house built and part of that was choosing our floors. They're Bruce brand engineered hardwood. I believe the color is Gunstock.

The floors were really important to me. I have allergies, and the builder puts hardwood everywhere except the three bedrooms. We decided to pay a few thousand extra and have the entire house hardwood (except the bathrooms which is tile) for my allergies and because I'd rather have hardwood than berber carpet.:D

+1 on all hard surfaces.

I have asthma and have used an inhaler 4 times a day for 25 years. I built this house with all hard surfaces, no curtains or anything else that collects dust/allergens and I have not taken any respiratory meds in over two years now!
Thanks!!!

I have asthma too....nothin like having em both!

4 times a day would suck. I take mine before I go running, but I don't think it helps much. Other than that, I take a bunch or regular meds; Xolair, Singulair, Flonase, Benadryl.

We have some drapes, but we clean everything very often. That's the good thing about hardwood floors, they force you to clean often because you can see when they're dirty.

I hope you have many more years of no meds!!!!!!!:D

Nice setup!

As soon as my new Yamaha 663 arrives I can complete our systems.

Speakers are old (very) Sansui purchased while on R&R in Hong Kong.

The equipment seems nice but a few words of advice..
1. If possible move those couches back some. Spread the speakers as far out as you can do get a wider image. Remove speaker grills. Also try to get a stand for your center speaker to raise it higher.
2. As far as acoustic treatment. You could always get a nice looking piece of carpet like the one you're using on the floor and hang it on the wall. It absorbs sound the same way but looks far better.
3. A tip for your allergies. Get a room air purifier. You could purchase these at
Walmart or some drugstores. Put it in your bedroom and leave it on all day
and night to clean the air. You'll be breathing way better. Something like this
would be perfect. http://www.amazon.com/Holmes-HAP242-UC-10-11-Foot-Purifier/dp/B0000DK35B/ref=pd_bbs_sr_6?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1227419509&sr=8-6

Good luck!

A/VUSMCSGT,
Did you research the Polk matching as a set? I was looking for a set I saw at Circuit City,as advertised as a set, but someone on the post told me they were unmatched or un-timbered and I would get lousy sound. I want good speakers and better than HTiab,so I guess it's component time for me.
What I saw at CircuitC was this:

2)Polk Audio PLK M10 2-way bookshelf, 89db
2)PLK M20 (amp power recom, 20-150w) or M50 Floor monitor,
1)PLK Center CS10,
1)PSW Sub 10"

Or I could go with something like this...

Polk RM10 Speaker System setup (5 plus sub) ($204.50)

Polk RMS75 5Channel for about ($350.00)

The room I'll be putting this in for now is about a 12' x 9', and can do just fine with 5.1 receiver, but if I ever wanted to move to that bigger room in the house, a 7.1 channel would be more sensible.
Do you know if I could use only a 5.1 setup in a 7.1 AVR setup without any consequences?

And I'm entertaining with one of these AVR's:
(these are BestBuy prices not Fry's or Amazon)

Pioneer VSX-1018 AH 7.1 (910w) ($430.00)
Pioneer VSX-918 5.1 (120w) ($265.00)
Onkyo TXSR-606 7.1 (90wx7) ($338.00)
Yamaha RX-V633 7.1 (665w) ($500.00)

PS. My father (RIP) was in the USMC for 23 years. My Cousins lived in Beaufort, SC. Last name TRACY. My Uncle was also in the USMC.

Thanks to you and to all the others who reply.
