Here's some pics of my HT in my new house. Everything's new except the TV and the Pioneer 1015 receiver. And I'll be receiving my Polk OWM3 surrounds on Friday. Enjoy!:)

Thanks!

We put up a lot of pictures, etc., but as far as acoustical treatments, we haven't put any up. I don't think I could get my wife to go for any of them I've seen, unless we make some or pay someone to make some.

Very nice! How do you like the Polks?
Thanks a lot!

I'm lovin em. I've always liked the way Polk's sound, but whenever I was looking for home theater stuff, I ended up going with something else for whatever reason. The sub didn't get the best reviews on here, but it bumps in my setup. For $300, it works really good. Everything sounds really good. We just started Netflix so we've only watched one Blu-Ray, and that's without surrounds, but it sounded good and very clear. We're definately watching some movies this weekend!!!

Nice classy setup. I made my acoustic panels. Nothing to it! You could pretty much cover them in a fabric of your choice as along as its nice and thin. I just used speaker grill cloth. But my HT is mostly black. You could make your panels different sizes, shapes, etc. so they don't even look like panels! They would work wonders in your room and you would wonder how you ever lived without them;) Really nice job. Semper Fi , Devildog.

I might have to look into it then. From what I know, they're pretty much wood frames with the fabric stretched over them. I can definately make some pretty easily if that's the case.

Are you a current or a former Marine?

Thanks a lot man!!!

Very clean install. I like it.

My only suggestion is to play with the speaker placement.

I suggest giving them a little more breathing room on all sides.

Keep us posted on any changes!!!

Nice Job!

Nice clean setup.

What input do you use with your Westy? I was not able to get the firmware upgrade so my HDMI input has the "sparkle" issue and I have to use the DVI input.

I'm using the HDMI. I haven't heard of the sparkle issue, but I am getting some blue pixels in shadowing and white pixels in bright scenes while watching it. It just started though when we hooked it up here. It was fine for the last two years on HDMI at my old house. I have a service tech. coming to hopefully fix it on Monday.

That sounds like the issue I have. I called Westy and they did acknoledge the issue but would not send me the firmware update and due to my remote location I don't have a service center within 200 miles.

If it just started make sure you did not get any drywall dust in the HDMI connector that goes into the back of the TV when you pulled the wire through. Also if you have a HDMI to DVI adaptor test out the DVI connection and see if it goes away.

I'll try to blow in the HDMI connector to get out any dust if there's any....but I did hook up my 32" Vizio in place of my Westy with the same exact HDMI cable and it was perfect. Would it make a difference that my Vizio is a plasma rather than an LCD???

And if I use a HDMI to DVI adapter, from what I've read, all it does is rearranges the signal to a DVI format but passes the same signal, which is 1080i or P depending on what I'm watching, right?

Former USAF. C-130 Turboprop engine mechanic stationed at Pope AFB in N.C........Man I loved that f****ng job!

Enging mech. huh....sounds pretty fun. I'm an "I" level comm/nav avionics tech. I enjoy it, but as a SSgt, I don't get to work on the gear much at all.

Well, thanks for your service!:)

adk highlander,

I bought an HDMI to DVI adapter and it fixed the problem!! Thanks a bunch man, I don't know why I didn't think of that. And I didn't know that DVI can pass a 1080P signal. I very glad it fixed it. I'm still gonna have the service tech. come on Monday and let him know that my HDMI input on the TV is jacked up.

Thanks again!!!

No problem. Glad I could help. Definitely have him do the firmware update because this can be fixed. Let me know what he does.

Cheers.

Me too!!!

I'll let you know what happens. Do you have any power issues with yours? With mine, every three days or so, the TV won't power on with the remote or the button on the TV. I have to unplug it for a couple seconds, then plug it back in and it's fine. I researched it a couple years ago (when I first notified Westinghouse of the problem that they never came to fix) and it's a firmware issue. Mine is 1.16 and the 1.19 I believe and above fixes it. Hopefully they can update the firmware and it fixes both issues. Either way, I'll let you know.

Peace.
