Yamaha 663 or Denon 2808. Please Help

I have an Optima HD70 and a Yamaha V2500. Hooked to Mourdaunt short speakers, 7.1.

The question I have is I am looking to get into the Blu-Ray world, and am thinking about upgrading the amp as well. I am thinking about the Panasonic BD55, for my Blu-Ray player.

The question I have is what do you guys prefer, the Yamaha 663 or the Denon 2808?

Second question, Is this going to be a major upgrade to the
V2500 that I already have?

Thank You

I had a pair of Mourdaunt Shorts Bookshelves about 25-30 years they sounded great but I powered them with a Phase Linear 400, these speakers need a lot of power to sound right.

I prefer the 2808 because I personally prefer Denon, not because of the sound quality difference.

With the upgrade, you are getting HDMI and other more updated features. You are not getting better sound quality.

The V2500 has 5.1 Analog Inputs, so the Panasonic BD55 can internal decode and send out via 5.1 Analog output for the TrueHD, DTS-HD MA, and PCM.

Which version of Audyssey is it? 2EQ? Multi EQ? Or is it the Multi EQ XT?

If Audyssey is important to the buyer, go for the last. It provides more filters, AFAIK, with the biggest beneficiary being the subwoofer.

edit: its spelled "Audyssey" :p

The 2808 has the Audyssey MultEQ XT....the 28 line and above carry the best Audyssey system (the XT)--while the others cary the less advanced ones....

Thanks CG. I'm not sure if I would say "best", since the 5308 and AVP are Audyssey Pro capable, and of course then there's the stand alone Audyssey SEQ . . .

Anyways, good info, thanks.
