Onkyo TX-SR606 problems

Just upgraded my HT to an Onkyo TX-SR606 , a Sony BDP-S350, and hooked them to my HD DTV sate4llite box, my Toshiba HD-A3, and my Sammy DLP.

I think My receiver is wonked out.

First, it simply won't handshake with the Toshiba. Dead picture and sound. Yet the Tosh will connect just fine direct to the Sammy (DVI) or my upstairs LG (HDMI).

Second, whenever I switch HDMI inputs (e.g. DVD to CAB/SAT), the screen and sound dies like with the Toshiba, but if I cycle the power it will usually reconnect. I've also noticed that if I switch from an SD show to an HD show on the DTV Sat box, the same thing happens.

Please tell me this isn't normal...

Doesn't sound normal to me...

Honestly, That doesn't sound normal at all. I have the SR875, and I went through a series of "No sound" issues also, that were remedied for me, after some confusing phone calls. The Onkyo local number is 201-785-2600(rather than the normal 800 number) I have to admit that there Customer Service is a PITA, no matter when I've called. The hold times average between 20 minutes and an hour.(seriously) And, I have not had a Customer Service rep from Onkyo that has English as their first speaking language, get on the phone with me yet. It's been pretty difficult to understand them when I call, but they are very polite though.
Still, it sounds like you got a Monday morning model.:(
I wish you luck. Joe B.

Thanks, I didn't think so either. Probably call Amazon tomorrow and have them ship me out a replacement.

Long story short, the problem was the inability of the 606 to reliably handshake with my DVI (HDCP)-equipped TV. Worked fine on my office LG HDMI TV.
