Subwoofer for SR506 (low-estimate)

Like 1 month ago, following some advice from this forum I bought a Onkyo SR506, and some Behringer B2030P for my 5.1. Now I'm using an old Subwoofer I had from before and I'm planning on upgrading it.

My room is about 25 m2 and I'm looking for a low estimate subwoofer (~$150) that may fit greatly the whole system I'm bulding.

Any ideas regarding this?

Regards,
SL

Yes I was thinking exactly on that subwoofer... problem is I'm from Spain and I cannot find Dayton brand here unfortunately, so I was looking for something a little bit more "commercial" if possible :(

Thanks for all :)

I don't know if they do, but you might want to look and see if Amazon.com ships to Spain.

Unfortunately not... anyway parts express does, so I might be buying them (problem is the customs and the taxes)

By the way, what difference I may encounter between Dayton 10'' and 12'' (except $20 difference), do you recommend me definetly the 12'' model for that diff? (and considering the characteristics of the Onkyo 506 specially)

Thanks

Finally I was deciding to shipping the Dayton to Spain but I have find that while sub cost $150, shipping cost $250!!! Not a good idea...

So now I'm up to find new ideas of low estimate subs but a little bit more commercial so I can find something in Spain :)

Anyone can tell me something?

What do you think on Behringer S1800S?

Regards

What about an Energy ESW-10? MSRP is $370 but they are going for about $150 online right now. Don't you guys think that would be a better sub than the Daytons?

edit: I also bought a refurb Onkyo 506 about a month ago from shoponkyo, and those Behringers are on my list of possible speakers for a 2.1 setup. What do you think about them, and what kind of music do you listen to the most? This is going to be for in my bedroom, and I am probably going to get an Energy ESW-8 for my sub.

Keep saving. You need a budget to work with.
Don't you think the Behringer S1800S is a good idea?

I have this other possibilities:
Peavey Messenger Pro Sub passive
Tapco SW10 Subwoofer

Any good for a HT that can be compared with the Dayton SUB120?

Right off the bat, the Behringer and Peavey subs are passive, which means they do not have a built in amplifier to drive the speaker. Unless you can budget for the cost of a separate amp, these will do you no good. Also, these are professional sound reinforcement speakers that will likely underperform in a home theater environment. Neither of them will play below 45Hz (which doesn't bode well for the Behringer with an 18" driver).

Tapco I've never heard of. I see they invoke Mackie as the designers of the sub in question but I have no basis to say that the results will be good or bad.

In this price range, I guess I could belatedly suggest you look at Sony subs. I had a little Sony that I paid $100 for many years ago. Within it's design limitations, it performed yeoman's duty without a single hiccup or failure. In this ultra low budget category, I guess I could say Sony=safe, you will get what you pay for. My little Sony is still in service today at one of my friend's homes.

....or you could go with the Energy ESW-8 that I mentioned on page 1 that no one is commenting about.

I have the Onkyo 506 Amp... then Peavey passive sub won't work with this?

About the Energy, I cannot find it neither :( I feel we are really under stock here... I've seen a lot of subs here in the forums but none of them can be find in spanish shops (nor european e-traders).

BTW, The Tapco looks a good idea, but I don't have a good reference about, only have heard so I don't know if its worth

No, but Peavey also makes a powered version of this sub although it is much more expensive.
I've seen the Peavey Messenger Pro Sub P active for about the double cost.

Between the Peavey Messenger Pro Sub P active ($360) and the Tapco SW10 Subwoofer($230), what would you recommend me comparing quality/prize?

Would both perform good on a HT?
When I was planning to buy the Dayton($150) I had the idea on buying a pair, but now as this cost much more, I'm just planning on buying 1... would you still recommending me the pair?
