Question for the Pro's..

I am trying to get some audio set up in my basement, and looked at a pawn show for a decent receiver. I found a couple yamaha's that i liked but they had a coax input source for the subwoofer and both of the subs that I own have dual wire connections. Can this problem be rectified?

Also, the show had some receivers that were quite cheaper but did not have a subwoofer input. Is there any way to input my sub into the center speaker connection instead? Any help would be fantastic! Thank you in advance!!!

As long as your subs have their own amps, using the front speaker outs to feed it signal should not be a problem. If they don't have their own amps, then you could still use a receiver with RCA out, you would simply need to have an amp to feed that signal to that will power the sub. Yes that may cost about as much as just getting a new sub that has line level (RCA) input. Center speaker out won't work because it only carries the center speaker's information.

Are your subwoofers passive? If so, I'd just buy an amp to power them that has a low level input (RCA style). If they're not passive, what kind of subs are they?

I see an upgrade in your future.

If there is an option to run the center as large, it should work fine.

Yes, it will work, but it will still only be the sound that is going to the center speaker, not from all the speakers.

It would be no different if he were to draw it from the fronts. The Center sees the same information, plus the Dialog.

they are pretty crappy, but they work. I got them both from a home theatre box set. I have a decent one with my good TV. I just need something that will be ok in the basement..
