New Harmon Kardon 254/354 owners

I'm purchasing the HK 254 from BB next week when they're in stock, anybody have one yet and whats your impression.

I have an AVR-247. It's buggy as hell, too. I get drop-outs with OTA that have nothing to with the reception. The sound will just mute, unless I change to another input then back again.

The HK 254 has been reported as having lots of bugs. I'd go with a Yamaha 663 or Pioneer 1018 (both sold at BB). If you still go with the 254, check online as I've seen it at for as low as $400; don't pay $600 for it.

I have an AVR-247, I haven't updated it to the newest firmware yet, and I still don't have much to complain about unlike all these other users. My only issue is when I'm listening to CD's on my DVD player and it changes tracks, the surround mode resets to stereo. I normally listen in just 2ch anyway so this isn't really an issue to me, but I'm sure it would be to some.

Just posted a reply in the H/K discussion thread.

Video dropout and loss on my son's 354 after 3 weeks of no problems.

Read in AVSForum that other manufacturers are have the same issue.

Hope this gets fixed soon.

They also have a long term standing proprietary claim that their power ratings are somehow better than other Mfgs....kind of like the Chiropractic profession....
