It will be serving 3 purposes:

1) RDS AM/FM Tuner
2) DD/DTS Decoder for my HDTV broadcast
3) "Second System" when watching with my wife.

Explanation for #3: Since my wife does NOT like the Subwoofer subsonic sound, I have configured the AVP-8000DTS for NO SUBWOOFER, but Large Speakers all around. I have also connected the DVD-3800BDCI, DVD-5910CI, and Toshiba HD-XA1 to the AVP-8000 via Coaxial & Optical inputs for regular DTS/DD.

I did a quick purely 100% subjective comparison between DD & TrueHD last night with "Nightmare Before Christmas" Blu-ray. The TrueHD came from the Denon BD player directly to the Denon Amp. The DD came from the AVP-8000 via bitstream. Simply put, I would rate both DD & TrueHD as FIVE STARS.

That's a nice clean rack. Nary a wire in sight. In my head, I pictured you system with a gazillion analog interconnects heading every which direction.;)

I'm impressed. I think a tall rack really displays the equipment for full effect, especially a nice clean setup like you've go there. I spent hours trying to wire manage my new tall rack and it didn't come out near as clean as what you have.

I'm a sucker for uniformity and matching components. Love it! You could stand to go a little taller. :p

See above for comments. Very nice ADTG:D

I think the black of the 8000 is slightly different hue than the others. Are you sure you can live with that?

Yeah, I think I can live with that for maybe a year. Then I'll just have to get a new Denon Pre-Pro.:)

Looks good, nice job on the wire management.

Might I ask the name/model of the AV rack?

Awsome! This is kinda what you and I were talking about when I was thinking of how to incorporate seperate amps and preamps into my exisiting system. Now... you do really have the best of both all worlds.

I gotta start bugging my wife. Since we're both at the same company in the financial industry and since our company has become a very attractive target with all the buyouts going on ... I probably should wait to see how things shake out... but MAN! I want to incorporate preamps and amps into my setup. It just looks smokin'.

That's just a sweet, clean, high-end setup.

It's my belief that most bitrate compression isn't audible unless it's incredibly low. If the dynamics are maintained (as they should be) then there shouldn't be much audible difference between DD and DD TrueHD assuming they are coming from the same source.

Yeah, I just watched Transformers BD & Days After Tomorrow BD on the AVP-8000 w/ DD and DTS, respectively, and they sounded exactly the same to me as TrueHD & DTS-MA.

Why does this NOT make me want to go out and get BD and move to HD audio???
