Yes I just received my new ULS yesterday, it looks fantastic! The way Hsu works is I had to get the 1st unit picked up before they would send another one out. This one I opted to get the one without gloss over it and I like it alot better that way. It matches my Era's alot better.
I can see how the non-glossy finish would match the Era better. Is the stain color close to the Era or is the Rosenut redder than the Rosewood?

The Rosenut is more blood red, the Eras Rosewood has a little bit more brown in the stain, but they are a close match with eachother.

there's a rosenut gloss and non-gloss version?
Yes Mike, if you call Hsu to order you can let them know that you want it unglossed, IMO it looks alot better.

Unless Stripes has been drinking a lot lately, then...yes. :)

Check out Stripes' HT thread. He has some pictures (albeit a little dark) of his new sub in there.
I will post some better pics here soon, along with some more thoughts on the sub.

Please do! I'm debating about this sub and 5 HB-1's for a good 5.1 setup. (2500 cu ft room)...

Have you heard the new HSU HB-1 MK2 speakers? Pete, and Curtis (cschang) says they are a huge improvement over the original HB-1's.

Pete told me he will e-mail you this afternoon. :D

Any updates stripes? I'd really like to hear more of what you think about this sub. I haven't found a lot for opinions on the ULS in my searches. I was gonna shoot you a PM but I just registered so I can't yet.

Thanks! I'm really interested to see what people are thinking about these after some listening time. Just can't seem to find many that own them.

+1 I'd like to hear more input. In my car audio days I was the guy who ran pairs of 10's or 12's in a sealed, separated box, and most people were blown away by the sound (although it took a fair bit of power to push things).

The sealed 15 might just be more my style than the ported 12...

Hey guys! Sorry I've been a little lazy about getting back to people about the ULS...

I ran into a small problem with the unit and had the driver go out on me, I called Pete and he sent me a new driver and a new amp just incase the amp could have had something to do with it. The sub preformed flawlessly before that. I installed the new sub and amp and Im back to loving my HT again. The install was no easy task though due to the driver weighing 40lbs:eek:

If you love the sound of a sealed inclosure you will love the ULS, it is extreamely fast and accurate the way I like to describe the sound is "Tight and Deep" and very clean sounding.

I wish I had more experience and have listened to more subs like MikeC, he could give a lot better of a comparison to some of the other heavy hitting subs that have a high regard on AH.

I would like to know how my sub would stack up against the Ultra or the Fathom:D

I think that the ULS is going to be more musical than the Ultra but the Ultra would have the edge in HT, but that is just a guess and have no idea if this would actually be true .

Please feel free to ask any questions you have and I will try to answer the best I can....

Josh

Thanks Josh. So would you say the single ULS has plenty output for your room? I have a similiar sized small bedroom I was thinking about picking one up for down the road. Just looking to get some feedback from the owners.

So what happened when your driver went out? Did it stop all together or emit any strange noises? Go out when playing at high levels?

And how was the replacement process dealing with HSU?

Thanks for all the positive feedback Josh, I'm so glad that you are up and running again!

I can only suspect that something was wrong with the last amp (since it was getting pretty hot to the touch), and therefore fried the driver. Bummer, because this could end up being the very first ULS-15 amp to have a problem. :( This is life I guess. But it was very heroic and honorable of you to graciously install the new driver/amp combo, and I really appreciate all your patience and kind words!

When you get a chance, try putting the sub in the front corner. I'm also curious to hear your impressions on the ULF trim control and whether or not that makes a nice improvement in your system.

Thanks again

Sincerely,

Nice of you to stop by Pete. Haven't seen you around very much. Don't be such a stranger around here. :)

I think we're going to have to get some HSU products for the next Florida GTG. We might have to think about doing Lallapa-Loser Fest '09.

Great to see you ml, and great to be here too! I've been so busy over the last few months with various things around the office, so that's why I haven't spent much time cruising the forums. It's nice to be back though :) I've put your GTG on my to-do-list, and I suspect that there will be some nice goodies available from us for the GTG either later this year or sometime next year!
