Just watched this last night on BD, saw it in the summer at the drive in. Not a big fan of Jackie Chan or Jet Li (nothing wrong with their movies, just not what I like), but I really liked this movie. Just plain fun and entertaing and I found the visuals stunning. Plus it's only my second BD movie!

Thanks for the review, Steve. I've added this to my Netflix queue so that I can check it out, too.

I just watched this the other night. At first, thought it was going to be a bit too cheezy for me. However, it turned out to be a decent movie. I did not watch it on BR as I have not bit the BR bullet just yet. Will be very soon though. It won't be soon enough as far as I am concerned. ;);)

Cheers,

Phil

I was interested in this one, but it didn't look quite good enough to get me into the theaters. I will check it out now that it is on BD though...:)

I saw it in the theaters with a group of friends. I don't recall the theater experience adding anything special to it. I think I'll enjoy it equally watching it at home. The movie's really cheezy, but it's fun and entertaining cheese. I liked it alot. As soon as I find a good deal, I'm picking it up on BD.

Sorry, but I thought it sucked. If I wanted to watch The Neverending Story, I would have rented that. You FINALLY get Jackie Chan and Jet Li together and this is what you come up with?

There was some awesome LFE in the climactic battle at the end though. And the 2 Chinese girls were SMOKIN' hot!!! :D

The second one is much better. LOL, the only think I liked about The Mummy 3 was the hot Chinese chick (sorry big pic). Hmmmm....who is that with her Darien? :D

i watched this on BD last night ...

comments:
1) there are a lot of scenes i couldn't wait to hear a monologue:
"sauron the dark lord ..."
"...the free peoples of middle earth"
first appearance of Jet Li = Gandalf in the forest
looking out into the night, Sparrow and lead guy = looking into Mordor before the attack
river scene = elf girl running from the dark riders
LOTR wannabe in china?

2) i agree with the poster above, it's not a bad movie but Jet Li and Jackie Chan and you really get this?

3) they could have used prettier girls

4) he learned enough Kung Fu in a few days to match some "battle hardened" fighters?
even the karate kid took more time - it would have been more believable if the staff had magical kung fu giving powers

5) i'm a jackie chan fan. but i look at his new movies like how i look at Matrix 2 and 3. "the original was incredibly better"

6) gone are blooper reels from fight scenes. seriously, the fight between jet li and JC should have given us a million bloopers ... where are those?

Kung fu in a few days strong enough to beat battle hardened warriors? Worked in the 70's for Run Run Shaw, works for me now.

Lack of bloopers? I'd lean toward pinning on Jet Li. Jackie Chan usually shows his most embarrassing moments at the end of most his movies, so we know he's got no qualms showing the world when he messes up.

I got this a few days ago on BD for $13 used off Amazon. Now if my PS3 ever gets fixed and shows up, maybe I can watch it.
