Hey guys, glad i found this site, i've posted this question on other forums along with emailed DVDO twice with no luck on a answer.

I have a DVDO EDGE on preorder and i'm wondering what's the best way to distribute the signal to multiple televisions as well as AVR's?
This is what im working with;

4 1080p 52 inch LCD's
3 Denon 3808CI Avr's

What im hoping to do if this will work, is plug all my sources via HDMI into the EDGE, then from there split the signal out to the 4 different displays. Now should i use both outputs on the EDGE (HDMI Video split into 4 HDMI outputs and plugged directly into LCD's aswell as split the second output (audio only) and run to the 3 Receivers. OR should i just run one HDMI cable to the 3 receivers and from the receivers to there designated LCD.

Option 2 is definately cheaper, only need one hdmi splitter and 3 fewer HDMI cables (some are going to be long aswell), but im looking to get the best functionality outta my gear.

My basement is near completion and i need to run the cables ASAP, so your input is greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Get an HDMI splitter that is designed to handle 7 or more outputs such as

StarTech.com Converge A/V 8 Port HDMI Splitter:

Or send me one of the LCDs and one of the 3808s and get one that will handle 5 or more :rolleyes:

You haven't given the specifics of your particular installation but assuming HDMI 1.3 compatability of all components. The typical way you would run a single AVR/ LCD combo is HDMI source cables to AVR then connect AVR to LCD via a HDMI cable. This provides sound through HT.

Componentseing hooked up are;

Samsung HD/Blu Ray combo player
PS3
Xbox 360
Bell HDPVR
Media Centre PC via HDMI

I realize that i'd usually plug right into receiver then into lcd, but because of the DVDO Video processor, im wondering if its the same way or if that will effect the processing of the signal....

I haven't heard a bad review yet, so Im getting one of these switches;
Octava 3 x 8 HDMI Switch + Splitter Distribution Amplifier

I kind of struggle with this setup.

A video processor tends to focus on lesser quality video to upscale it in a way that the native source can't do. Yet, all of your sources are starting at 1080i or 1080p... So, what is the purpose of the DVDO product in this, and why would you want to limit yourself to everything going through it before sending the same source everywhere in the room?

Instead, I would be looking at a HDMI matrix switcher which can allow you to use all the TVs separately, and have individual access to each source from any TV.

Aurora Multimedia offers HDMI matrix switchers in up to 32x32 formats, but I would look hard at their 8x8 model.

I would save a good scaler, if I actually needed one, for a front projection system, or for an incredibly good 60" plasma which is being viewed under extremely critical conditions.

Of course, if all you want is the splitting...
