So I'm looking into putting together an audio setup for my dorm room. All I really want to attain is some good bass and decent sound quality. What are some good quality pre-assembled systems or what's are some good products to piece together a good setup? Any ideas are greatly appreciated. :)

How much do you want to spend? How much space do you have? Do you want floorstanders or bookshelf? Sub no sub? We need a little info in order to help you.... Welcome to the Forum....

Oh, forgot about the whole price thing. I'm not looking to spend more than $400 so not a big budget by any stretch, I would prefer floorstanders as well and would definitely want a sub. I am still a bit confused on the whole active/passive speaker subject. All I want is a lot of bass (just because I'm a college student :p) So please don't hate me too much. Thanks agian

Are you looking to spend 400 on a pair of speakers or include the sub in that budget? If you want bass I would suggest Cerwin Vega's. They are or were very popular with the collage crowd as they produce a hi SPL of bass for "parties" and such....I don't think you would need a sub with the cerwins

I'm thinking more like $400 total, but if the cerwin vegas produce lots of bass (do I need one or two of them) then I don't think I'll need a sub. Could you recommend where I would find these for a good price and which models would be suitable? Also, would I need a reciever?

no i don't have a receiver. Is having one necessary? Would I need two of the CLS-10's? Or would one do?

My .02: with your budget, haunt Craigslist and watch for a complete system that somebody who is upgrading wants to sell. You'd have to be patient, but I do think you would come across something that would be FAR better than anything you could buy new for $400.00.

Good hunting!
