They are from the Klipsch Reference series which is very good quality speaker. Klipsch uses a horn tweeter. They are a speaker that you need to sit in front of for a extended period of time, to see how your ears like them.

Are these speakers new for $400 each?

Yea that's a good deal if they are new.. and building on what mazersteve said, see if your dealer will let you in-home audition them.

I recommend you ask if you can take them for a hoem audition. Some people like the horn sound, others hate it. There seems to be no middle ground with this. Take them home and listen to them playing a big varieety of material thru them to see if yoyu like the sound. If you do, bonus for you! You scored well. If not, tak eem back and keep hunting.

3db is right. The Klipsch sound is like licorice, you love it or hate it. As one who hates it, I can't stand listening to Klipsch for more than a few minutes at a time.

Agreed.

I may hate these speakers, but you may liove them (and vice versa). That's what it's so important to listen to them for yourself, preferably in your own home.

If you like them, forget about what other people think. You opinion is the only one that matters. And since they are at Best Buy you can return them if you don't like them. Cool!

Oops - dunno why I thought they were from BB.

So, did you actually audition them or just see the deal?
