VTF-3 MK3 to big?

Ok I've decided to do it right, I've taken a spare bedroom and make it a dedicated home theater. Im ordering acoustic treatments, GIKs 244's 2 sets and a set of Tri-Traps. The dimensions on the room are 11'L 10'W 8'H I'm really considering the HSU 3.3 for the room it will be placed between the couch and the wall. So will this sub be a perfect blend of clean HT sound or is it just to much for this small room?

Here are my thoughts:

1. If a subwoofer has more capability than you need, you can always just turn the volume down. If a subwoofer has less than you need, well...that's it.

2. You gotta consider the physical size of the sub. Just make sure that it'll fit.

EDIT: From everything that I've read, Hsu will give you recommendations on which sub would fit your room the best if you contact them.

Thats a big sub.....you will be ok as long as you have the space...Everybody needs more SUB...

If I may suggest, you can get away with a very small subwoofer. Would find a decent budget, and by 2 lesser subwoofers. 2 PB-10s would do wonders in that room. If you cna spend a grand, 2-500 dollar subwoofers would rock. If you're decent with wood, a DIY subwoofer would also work. WmAx has some ideas that involve a JL W7 8inch in a sealed enclosure.

Ha! Yeah thats some serious excursion, I cant believe some of the stuff they have out there, MTX Jackhammer? crazy, Boston and JL have some serious chest thumpers too...

Its funny your right a huge encloser for a 12" maybe I should just go for the gusto and get the ULS-15. Its actually smaller than the 3.3 and claims 10 htz!!! (in most rooms) I dont know if mine counts...

You'd be surprised how small of a subwoofer you can get. A couple SVS SB-12s would work just fine. You may be able to get a package deal if you buy them together.

I've heard about subs being able to pressurize a room, I've heard its quite a crazy feeling...

Hello, my room is NOT much bigger than yours. I did the same thing in that I made a small bedroom into a dedicated ht room. I have (2) Outlaw LFM-1 Pluses in there and they do just fine. You really can't have too much sub and if you do just turn it down a bit. If that was to become the case, then you would be able to playing it cleaner and with less distortion. If you have the room, as Sheep mentioned duals would really be awesome in such a small room. BTW, I used to own a Hsu VTF-3 MKIII as well as a PB10-NSD and the PB12-NSD respectively. You would be hard pressed to go wrong with any of these.

Well the biggest problem with the dual subs is I just dont have the room, well I mean I could cram it in there but I would really just like 1 sub because I dont have to worry about standing waves and subs cancelling each other out.
Im trying to talk myself into the ULS-15 I just need to get over the $1400 price tag...its so over budget its not even funny,

That ULS-15 looks fantastic. Ever since I saw it, I've loved the wireless aspect of it (assuming that it works well).

Two things that I'd like to say:
1. I'll suggest again to contact Hsu (if you haven't already) to see what they'd recommend. They shouldn't try to oversell you.

2. If you think that you'll second guess yourself about not getting the more expensive sub...then get it if you can. It took me a while to overcome the price tag on the SVS Ultras versus their Plus line, but I knew deep down that I would always wonder if I should have gotten an Ultra if I got something else. So, I sucked it up and bought an Ultra. With a Plus, I might have always wondered "what if?" I can honestly say that I have no regrets at all about spending the extra money on the Ultra. That comes down to the individual. I just knew that I personally would have always wondered, and because I could buy the Ultra, I did.

Best of luck in your decision. I'm sure that we'll all want to read about which one you choose!

I had a VTF-3 HO Turbo in my master bedroom, and now an PB13-Ultra Box sub. One can never have TOO MUCH sub. But, in that room a ULS-15 might fit better. And the ULS has some really nice finishes. Like Adam said, bight the bullet and get all the sub you can afford. BTW, a PB13-Ultra is just right for my master bedroom .

All right guys! I'm going with the ULS-15, I totally agree with everyone and believe you cant have too much but very easily can have not enough. I'm getting quite a few things at once so I'll be sure to post some pics when I get everything completed.

Ordered ULS-15!!!

Just to update: I ordered my ULS-15 today! I also ordered 2 sets of GIK 244's and a set of Tri-Traps. Everything should be here next week, my Era D5 LCR and my Axiom QS4's will be arriving shortly as well. My HT is almost complete!!!

This is just fantastic news stripes. Way to go due!!!! Kudos to you and congrats are in order. It sounds like you have things streaming along quite well. Just be sure to post some pics if you don't mind. There are others here, myself included, that would just love to a few close-ups of the new Hsu ULS-15. I would high five you or bump chest, but I need to warn you I don't jump real high.
