30' run from an EP2500 to a sub

So for say a 30' run from an EP2500 to a sub, all I need is 20guage?

Into an active sub (sub has a built-in amplifier) you do not need to go through a Behringer EP2500 amplifier. You can connect directly to the "sub-out" or "LFE", which are both low voltage, low current pre-amplifier outputs and 20 gauge wire will work fine for 30 feet.

If you are going to connect to a passive (non-amplified) sub using a Behringer EP2500 ampliifier, then I would use 12 gauge wire at 30 feet. The Berhinger EP2500 is a very nice amp and supplies 2 x 1,200 Watts into 2 Ohms, or 2,400 Watts into 4 Ohms bridged mono operation.

Definitely remember the amperage limits of wire at distance as well. this comes into play with high power applications like Eagles has brought about.

So if we have an amplifier that outputs 1200 watts into a 4 ohm load, we have 69.28 volts which yields 17.32 amperes of current at 4 ohms. I don't know about you, but I would be using 12 ga. at a minimum with that type of amplifier. At a distance of 30 feet you need to be in upwards of 10ga. for that type of power output.

Don't overlook the fact that amperage plays into the equation especially at a distance with smaller guage wire. It is not simply about resistance.

Annunaki, yes I agree with you! if you are truly at maximum power, because the Behringer EP2500 is one hoss of an amp, and the lights start to dim
