Too bad the speakers are not in stock, hopefully for the people that go for this sale do not get stuck with any delays past the november ETA that was given.

i thought the new business strategy was NOT to sell (preorder or whatever) products not in stock?

Yes you are correct, that was stated previously because of all the problems that caused with customers being charged their credit cards and waiting months and then having delays added on top of that. But I guess when they have sales now they think it is o.k to charge the CC when the order is processed. To be honest with you I am not a big fan of their pricing structures compared to other internet direct companies.

Actually the AV123 delay is a good deal for the buyer and a bad deal for AV123 because it allows you to keep looking and keep talking on Audioholic forums and to cancel your order to buy better speakers if one is so inclined:).

I went from Bigfoot to CLR3000

P.S.- Maybe AV123 sets their build inventory based on customer orders; not bad if you can pull it off.

AV123 practices an inventory strategy called just-in-time inventory which essentially keeps down holding costs which provides other cost cutting advantages. However JIT strategy's have their risks as well, especially when you are manufacturing goods in foreign countries like China and Columbia. Shipping goods by boat also has its risks with delays and lot of times these problems are out of the company's control such as traffic and inspections. This is where the customer service steps in. With the JIT strategy, customer service is the most important aspect of the business model IMO, it is what keeps the boat from sinking when these problems arise. They can pull it off even with these problems because of their customer service and MLS involvment directly with the consumer (there products are pretty good too:)). If they can just begin to fufill their orders in a timely matter and work out the kinks they will be laughing.

I really wish I had an opportunity to listen to some good Def Techs before I ordered my AV123 stuff. They get a lot of praise...but I think I will be happy with the rockets too.

i ordered my rockets in july, I dont mind the wait as im still trying to refinish my HT room, i jumped on the 2K deal for the 850s,bigfoot,450s and so i was also able to get the mfw 15 for 195 bucks so at 2195.00 and $270 to ship everything, I am a happy camper providing i get them before november, if i dont have them by the middle of october i will just cancel and order the axiom m80v2,vp150,qs8s witch was my second choice anyway, I just found the axioms a tad bright and im not in love with the looks of them

JMO this is such a good deal that I couldn't care how long it took to get them within reason. Within reason meaning 4-5-6 months. Again JMO.

And I am on the other side of the camp, I wouldn't pay two hundred bucks for them unless I could take them home that day.

Just heads up....MLS recently announced AV123's X-mas sales. As usual, the Rocket deal is amazing again but I believe, the most fascinating deal has to be the 5.0 ELT525 package for $800....especially when the ELT towers alone sells for $700.

You would really wait 6 months? I mean I can understand if the speakers were being made completely customized to your preference but for a standard cabinet? Not even Salk whose speakers are completely custom from head to toe take 6 months to ship. I have read a lot of horror stories with AV123 with the MFW-15 where some people waited up to a year for the damn thing.

6 months wait is preposterous.....

I could never spend that much money on speakers and deal with a 6 month wait, plenty of other products out there you can have instantly....

Yeah that is pretty insane. Although I have been reading about other companies MLS has had his hand in the past (Perpetual Technologies, etc), and needless to say his business practice track record leaves something to be desired.

This thread might be the more appropriate place for this post:

I'm giving serious thought to cancelling the order I placed yesterday for the AV123 Rocket 850 5.1 package.

Per the posts below copied, it appears that the price has fallen dramatically in a very small time frame. I paid $1699 plus freight. Plus, it looks like I will be waiting for some time until they deliver (for me, not a huge issue).

I see below that the price dropped from approx $2250 to $1999. Now the price stands at $1699 with a "free" x-head amp valued at $199.

http://av123.com/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,292/category_id,19/manufacturer_id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,37/

The Biggest End of the Year Sale Ever! Rocket Package
Price: $1,699.00

Package 1:
RS 850, RS 450, and RSC 200 with a free X-Head

That the separate prices for these 5 speakers and x-head totals $3700 is more cause for concern. If AV123, as an ID seller, can discount nearly 55%, it suggests to me that their "normal" prices are set artificially high. Further, if they dropped their price 3 times in the very recent past, it suggests to me that they may be on unstable financial ground. Lastly, charging me now for a system that won't deliver until some point in the future, reinforces my suspicions of their questionable financial strength.

Price: $599.00 Rocket RSC200 Signature Center Loudspeaker
Price: $899.00 Rocket RS450 Mid-Tower Loudspeaker
Price: $1,999.99 Rocket RS850 Signature Tower Loudspeaker
Price: $199.00 X-head Headphone Amplifier

Total: $3696.99

I have every reason to expect the price to be $1400 or less, next month.

Any thoughts out there? Am I better served with another system at the $1700 price point? (fronts, center, rears)

Had I purchased these items at full internet posted prices, I would be fuming mad over the $2000 loss AV123 created. Had I purchased these items at $2250 or $1999, I'd be nearly as angry. I checked AV123's website and was unable to find any info relating to price protection. Anyone have experience with this issue? I do see below that a gift certificate was offered as compensation. Is this reasonable? Some people paid a higher price for their order and were offered AV123 company script instead of a partial refund to their original method of payment?

I realize that I'm doing the 1 thing I have never done before-- buy without testing for myself. My decision to buy is based on the positive reviews from other qualified posters. Then again, I can't eliminate the possibility that AV123 is posting positive reviews themselves.

Thanks,

Dave

AV123 Rocket Sale

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://av123forum.com/showthread.php?t=32643

AV123 is selling a specific package of their rocket line for a fair amount of $$$ off the existing price.

Here's the deal:

Quote:
Good Afternoon –

The times they are a changing for sure. Costs are rising everywhere – and our factories in China are taking a big hit with the Yuan v Dollar hurting like never before (I miss that old 8.1 Yuan per Dollar peg we enjoyed for all of those years for sure)… and with the labour laws and fuels costs in China the “Big Hurt” (and I’m not talkin’ about Frank Thomas here) is upon us…

I’ve had to really think creatively to bring you folks something really special in the way of a SUPER DEAL on our best selling Rocket Loudspeakers… I have done it using some real “out of the box” thinking – both on the Costs Of Goods Sold side – as well as the transport vector of this matrix.

By asking our friends in China to help us with this Super Summer Rocket Deal -we have sort of reminded ourselves of how close we have all become as friends and as partners… This deal was put together with our COLLECTIVE best feet forward – all with you in mind… I love this deal in fact as it saves everyone a ton now – and when the new prices are announced – THEN the savings will really hit home

Clearly our best selling system has always been this one:

RS850 + RSC200 + RS450

This is the system that brings the house down – and puts our very best foot forward (except for maybe the RS1000’s in front – the 850 is something really special)… For Home Cinema this is “the voice” of this company. Many will like the open baffle designs for their special attributes – but if you want to “rock the house” – this is THE ONE!

With the help of our friends in China we can now offer this system at the following price (+ freight)

$1999

Yes… $1999 plus freight… In a few short weeks the exact same system will be about $1000 dollars MORE! RS850’s will have to go to $1599 – RS450’s will settle in at $799 and Big Foot will be right at $549… You can do the math for yourself…

If the R450’s are not to your liking for rear channels due to space limitations – how about we roll out the EXACT SAME SYSTEM – but instead of the RS450’s for your rear channels, you can substitute the wonderful ELT 525 mini Monitor…

System Price ---- $1699

OK – what’s the catch… There are two – they are:

To buy this system you will need to place a 50% deposit with us to hold your system. The day you order, we need 50% down.

And – Delivery

These will be shipped to you 90 days from your order date. We may improve this timing a bit – but count on 90 days… This gives us a perfect amount of time to process your order – produce the product – ship it here – and then ship it to you. We are completely confident in our delivery schedule – and YES, we have learned to err on the “conservative side”…

To place your order – simply call your av123 Rep today… Supplies are only as good as the planned build out…

I also wish to add that a few of you are waiting for this exact system right now – you will be priced matched in an av123 Gift Certificate. Good for you – good for us…

I need to also mention that current Gift Cards are excluded from this sale at THESE prices… they can be used with the necessary cost adjustment (we just can’t give you that EXTRA 10% over we gave you with these cards – but you can use them with the costs adjusted). These prices are just too tight to be able to use here in the traditional sense… We can back out that extra 10% we gave you (over what you actually paid in) and then you can “go for” these deals as you desire…

As well, some of you are taking delivery of this system or one just like it THIS WEEK. You can call your Rep today and switch to this system if you’d like. We are also sending this post to ALL of you in the current RS850 wait queue (system or individual sale). For those folks you can Super Size your package or individual sale and get RS1000’s at just $250 dollars more… How about that…

OK folks – this is very very very best I can do for you – I know many of you will not be heading out to visit the kids or relatives this summer due to the incredibly high fuel and travel costs we are faced with today. Stay home and rock with some Summer Fun from av123… Let our Rockets lift you into orbit (corny, but fun to say)… and see for yourself what everyone is talking about with these speakers… Now, more than ever… THE BEST HT Value is right here with our Rockets…

ENJOY…

All the best…

mls

They were already running an existing special that put this system at $2547 with free shipping. Even though this final sale doesn't include shipping, it put my total at $2350 shipped, about $200 off.

I heard these last weekend, and they are fantastic speakers IMO.
(The 850's are particularly easy to drive at 8ohm, 91.5 db sensitivity.)

I think they were playing around with a very short term sale, so get in while you can if you're in the market.

They have sales almost every month at av123, I can't keep track of all of them. Your best bet is to call them and they will probably make up the difference in the price if you bought them recently.

I doubt you will see less than the $1699 for that set A-stock, I never have.

My completely custom speakers are just at about that mark but that is to be expected and I was well advised of the time. I however, would not wait on any commercial speaker for that length.
