I switched to the new Office back in Jan and I must say I love it. I can't go back to 2003 now. The interface is just THAT much better when compared to the last version. Considering that there are really only two major differences between 03 and 07, I like the interface upgrade a lot. I am still saving all my files in 03 format though for compatibility.

Very good, I am glad you like it. There are just some people that I deal with that don't adapt well to any computer changes at all

Right now I use both: XP at work and Vista at home. I like Vista, but then I like new PC and audio and electronic gadgets.

I have 7-Day Accuwether Forecaster in my Office by Ambinet. Pretty neat, but necassry? Well No!

My understanding from other users of XP preferring it to Vista was because they knew any first generation software would have program and driver compatablitity issues with other programs. Heh.. I switched from a P2-350hz with windows 2000 pro to Vista 9 months ago and love it. The biggest problem with Vista was the actual installation of the program file itself and to my understanding most early adaptation users didn't have the required RAM to run it properly which bogged thing down to the point that people decided to switched back to XP.

You are absoulutely right, vendors were telling people they needed one gigabyte when really needed at least 2 gigabytes. And since memory was still fairly expensive when Vista was first introduce, some entry PCs were even sold with 512 M and Vista. Good 2 cents billy p

Seems to run well so far, no real major issues. It boots really quickly off of the 10K rpm drive. One thing that still pisses me off is that iTunes seems to hang when I exit, just like it did on my XP system. It runs fine for some reason until you try to close it and then hangs up, but you can kill it and restart and it opens up again no problem. Adobe Lightroom 2.0 runs really smoothly. I picked up an additional monitor and already getting addicted to a dual monitor setup. My 21" just doesn't compare to the new 24" Samsung though...

back in the day it was top dog I mean 350 Mhz processor with 256 of RAM couldn't get better than that. BTW what the heck is a Terabyte I've now only reached Gigabyte. I guess I'll always be one or two steps behind all you geeks. JK

Back when I built that machine, Pentium II had just come out and it was too expensive for me to afford, so I went with the fastest Pentium I. The 450MHz P2-MMX went for like $799 just for the processor alone. I never did end up owning a slot-type CPU, skipped right over them to another socket type.

and when we all get use to it....Windows 7 rolls out..... Ive had some issues with Niles, URC, and some serial control. There were workarounds and fixes for all but URC and the mx950 editor and the remote communicating with each other.

Fastest Load time

Mine is in the basement and used from t 2 t BUT man is it SLOW and you guys thought the loading times for early generation BR player were bad.

My favorite PC of all times for the fastest load time was an Atari 800. It was fully loaded as soon soon as you finger left the system reset key. Great game machine in its time, but only 48K of memory. However that was enought to write a linear program in Atari Basic to optimize the product mix, raw materials, number of salesman, product price, factory hours and numer offactory lines to get an A+ in my Business Policy class

heh.. I remember the Commodore 64. I was in high school in the early eighties and can recall how in awe I was, when I first saw it. One of the kids on our street happened to have one and he was the most popular kid on the street. Than again they had a pool and the biggest house as well.

After the Atari, I had an Amiga computer ..... first true multi-tasking PC, voice and music synthesis, and when DOS and 5 1/4 inch floppies were still king.

... And yes I am older than dirt

I wish I had a Commodore 64 when I was little. I used to go to my friend's house all the time to play Montezuma on it.

My first PC was an IBM clone with an Intel 8088 4Mhz and 64k of ram. Had to be booted up by a 5.25in floppy drive with DOS 2.0. Those were the good old days......

My first computer was a Timex 2048. I used to have friends at the house to play some games. Then we would take off on our bikes for the hills and forests nearby. Those were the good'ol days

I don't miss the "Fine tune the tape head with a screw driver, wait 5 minutes for the game to load and then get a soft reset"

Eh, what really bites is that DX10 isn't going to be on XP. That means.. newer games for me I'll HAVE to get Vista.

Otherwise, XP and Linux would hold me up just fine.

This comp I'm on went from Vista to XP to Vista. When I put it together, the hardware vendors were being idiots and not putting out good drivers for some of my hardware, so it was cheaper just to revert to XP. I just reinstalled Vista a few days ago and it runs perfect! My applications load a lot faster, Windows boots faster, everything is faster and more stream lined. I have yet to have ANY reason not to like it.
