Hi,

Newb working on first system. I have purchased some use Axioms in very good condition: M22's, V150 and QS4's, but havent' installed anything yet. I'm still waiting on the AVR is Yamaha HTR-6160 (RX-V663) and the TV.

When I bought the Axioms, the seller included a Polk RM6000 8" sub, which is a unit that originally came as part of an inexpensive HITB system from Polk.

I don't know what kind of performance I can expect from the Polk unit, but I suspect that it won't be much, so question is: should I just start looking now for a replacement (or two?).

Any strong recommendations on what would be a good match for the Axioms and the Yamaha? Would an Axiom sub be "ideal," or is the concept of matching brands not partcularly applicable?

TIA for any advice/suggestions.

There's nothing wrong with an 8" sub, but you'll need something that is at least competent - AV123 has one that might do the trick, the X-Sub. Subs that come packaged in a set (aside from the likes of SVS) are generally not going to cut the mustard.

Whoa, the price went up about $20 for that guy. You will get more output from that guy, however it also doesn't go much below 25Hz. :)
