Those DVD-A discs you're referring to are playing the DVD-Video portion of the disc, which may have a dts 24/96 track on them.

Yes you are correct dobyblue. I guess I was just associating 24/96 bit rate
as the same as dvd-audio. Which it is the same bit rate. But I guess technically not "DVD-Audio".

No problem.

The difference is that multi-channel 24/96 on DVD-Video is lossy, whereas on DVD-Audio it is not.

dts 24/96 = lossy
MLP = lossless
