Well I think that 2 Sb-12 Plus subs is what I am leaning towards. I have actually been waiting for a dealer to get in MiniVee 10's for over a week now and after reading about the SVS products I am inclined to say that those would be a better. Yes the Velo has 1,000 watts...but the SVS has the 12" driver and the reviews of the unit seem to be rather glowing.....

I am sure not....although now, thanks to user mazersteven...I have been informed that AV123 is having a 10% sale on thier MFW-15's. So two of those would actually be less expensive than the SVS Sb-12's.

I suppose I will need to do more reading...

Well I really do appreciate everyone’s input over this. After talking to the dealer who was selling me the MiniVee 10's I decided to stay with those. I have bought from them before and these men really know the industry and equipment extremely well. They had heard the SB-12+ before and said that it was an extremely competent sub, but that the Velo still hits harder and more deep. Other than the Sb-12’s advantage in driver size the Velo MiniVee 10 trumps it in its amp, magnet structure, and voice-coil design.
So after all this debacle I am right back to where I started with the MiniVee 10’s…Again I thank everyone for their input and will be sure to post impressions as there is little written on these units and especially the larger MiniVee 10….I am looking forward to what two of them will do…more to follow.

If you prefer the velo, by all means buy it, but the other is a better sub by most opinions. The eq on the SVS is a nice advantage especially since you running duals and the amp shouldnt be a factor;)

not true at all. please ask them what the magnet structure/voice coil design is on the SB12, because even I don't know. those however sound exactly like the velodyne brochure.

i would take the sb12 over the minivee 10 ANYDAY.
if the SPL1200R was the same price as the SB12, id take the SPL1200R, otherwise, i'd take multiples of the SB12 over the SPL1200R

i'd also take the now ex-stock MFW15's (with discount, over the above choices)

please note i have the SB12, Velodyne DD18 (please ask your industry people if they are familiar with that one), Dual Velodyne DLS-5000R.

Well I am in a hard spot now because they have these coming in for me after being out of stock....but I really feel from what I have learned that I need to cancel them being shipped, because the SVS is going to be the much better bang for the buck.

Sub demo

I wouldn't feel any obligation to buy from your local dealer. You might consider taking advantage of the trial period from SVS or the "risk free" demo policy from AV123 to do your own shoutout against the Velo.

I don't have any experience with the mini-V series by physics is on the side of the larger drivers in the SVS and AV123 models.

I wouldn't fell any obligation except the getnlemen there have always been really nice to me and given me some great deals along the way....not to mention that I go in alot to drool over all their super high-end stuff...lol.

Being a student and all I think that these slow additions will work fine...and it turns out that they went down on the price and gave me the two MiniVee 10's for $1200 which is a steal as you generally see them at $1000 a piece. In a couple of years I would love to upgrade to some Ultra's or whatever new monster SVS has. But for now, being in a loft with neighbors....I am sure this will be way too much as it is...lol

OK so the saga continues now....I got the subs in yesterday and have been testing them out over the last day...and I have to say that I am a little let down on these. If it wasn't for my 16' ceilings they would be fine. The sound is much more even than what I had with the single SPL-1500r, but they lack the impact and pressure I had grown fond of with the SPL. So I am going to bite the bullet and send these back or sell them to get something that I am truly happy with....

So I open up yet again to anyone who has ideas on the duals subs that will have great pressure and impact in my room.....

Well.....We told ..... Are you going to stick with your B&M guys and try to find some thing or go with what fits your prereqs?

Why?, are the 4 pages so far not enough to go on. With your budget, room, and preferences ie footprint ,some great answers have been given, and imo the svs does it.

Chopin, I'll post here instead of your classified because you might not want it there - I'm curious why you are willing to take such a bath on these. You paid $1550 for these yesterday and you're willing to sell them for $1200? Can't you just return them to the dealer? You mentioned that they are nice, and they apparently told you that they'd be sufficient for your room. I'd think that they'd be willing to work with you.

Just wondering. No judgement or anything. I'd just hate to see someone lose $350 after one day of use.
