I went to see batman yesterday. I got the treat of seeing it in mono with the sub-woofers turned off. I was amazed that i was the only one who complained! i got comp tickets.i guess the movie going public really doesn't care as long as the dialog is clear. its no wonder that blose speakers do so well. at least i was reminded of why i never go to the movie theater! my so-so system blows this theater away.

We saw it again yesterday. The theater was loud and it was in Doly Digital, but the sub doesn't kick you in the pants like it does at home. Movie theaters almost need tactile transducer that you can turn on or off per seat...

the imax showing in Az had the extremely punchy and clean bass, It was amazing... Most other theaters in Az have little to no sound stage, and in some cases sound like a hib at a louder volume...

Looks like the Phoenix area has three of those bad boys. Tucson doesn't have any, yet. I guess that I'll just wait for the DVD release. :)

Rave theater in Fort Wayne, IN always seems to have fantastic high output sound. The bass is awesome. I have seen Dark Night twice at Rave, and once more at a newer Keresotes theater in Kokomo, IN. Keresotes was decent, but not to the level of quality in PQ or sound to Rave. Rave uses DLP projectors and digital video, Keresotes still uses regular film.

I've wondered why theaters don't do that. I guess it's too expensive to outfit every seat with its own transducer... then again I bet those chairs aren't cheap on a per-unit basis so what's another 10% :)
