I have read the Subwoofer Setup section, but it did not address how I have mine set up at the moment. I am using a Yamaha 3800 with the Klipsch Refrence RF5 series. I am currently using three subs, a Velodyne DLS 4000, Klipsch RSW10 ( with a passive 10 in the back ), and a Mirage PS12 which is in the rear.

The first two (Velodyne and Klipsch) are connected via a rca cable using a splitter from the receiver, the Mirage in the back is connected by the rear surround speaker cables. The rear surround cables go form the Yamaha to the Mirage then onto the actual speakers.

My questions are this:

1) Is using a three sub system alright?

2) Are these subs compatible with each other?

3) Is the way I have the Mirage steup optimal?

Everything is fine except the way your mirage sub is setup. If your speakers have been properly setup there will be virtually no bass signal being sent to that speaker, and even if there were it would only be what is being sent to that one surround speaker. You could try using more splitters although that will drop your signal even further which also is not ideal.

Actaully I am getting tons of bass response from that rear sub. As a matter of fact, I have to turn it down further then the other two.

Do you not have your rear speakers set to small? If they are they shouldnt be recieving much bass. The only time I can see not setting them to small is if your are using RF5's all around. But even then its still only getting the channel info for that surround channel which wouldnt really make sense to do, hookup wise.

My rear speakers are set to large. What you are saying is making sense, but for some reason it is not what is happening. I am getting tons of bass from the sub and getting just the rear sound effects from the speakers (opposed from the full sound from the mains). The reason I have them connected the way I do, is because I did no want to buy a 50 foot sub cable.

Regardless, you said that my subs are compatible, which is good news, since I dont have to buy new ones. Thanks again!
