While I applaud the concept of vintage, if memory serves me well, these metal monstrosities sound pretty awful. I didn't mind that "back in the day" since the sound, much the movie, wasn't the main focus of my time at drive-ins back then.

But, it does sound like fun. I'd go with modern speakers, though. IMNSHO, for this application, that stereo speaker system should be fine.

I'd like to be invited to one of his showings.

Can you imagine the fun you could have watching a movie while in the pool? You could add your own special effects.

...Throw in a baby ruth while watching the pool scene in "Caddyshack"?

...Someone one swimming underwater and grabbing a guest during key scenes in "Jaws"?

The last thing I'd do is publicize this. He'll get a cease and desist from at least the MPAA before too long. Cool concept, though in FL I'd rather be indoors with air conditioning!

Initltially, I thought this was a personal, not-for-profit home theater, albiet outdoors instead of inside.

But, when I re-read the article and focused on the opening line : "It's one thing to craft a home theater that keeps guests coming back weekend after weekend, but it's another to create one that keeps them rolling (literally) in by the dozens.". I have to wonder.

If it is a for-profit venture then you're right, he is playing with fire.

Yes, those were the days. I had a drive-in about fifteen minutes from home.
When I was 17; I'd go three nights a week, and still not know what the movie was about.
