Equivalent to the audioholics forums, but frequented by europeans?

I'm in Berlin now and hunting for speakers. I've been posting some questions to the speakers forum, but it seems that most of the brands I can find here are not available or not popular in the US, so I didn't get an informed opinion.

Is there an Equivalent to the audiholics forums, but frequented by europeans?

Thanks

The AVS Forum is very busy and I have noticed many responses from people in many different countries. The system will not let me copy the link so here it is the hardway: avsforum.com

I don't, but what speakers are available to you? I would think anything decent manufactured in the EEC should be available in Berlin. Apart from subs you should have a much larger selection of speakers to listen to than in the US and talked about on this forum. You should be able to find more good British designs than are available here for instance. I don't believe Harbeth and Castle are available in the US, and many good speakers like Celestion , Mordant Short, Quad and Mission are hard to come by. You have Elac and MB Quart made in Germany, and many others.

What speakers have you auditioned, and what did you not like about them? Shouty in your face speakers sell poorly in Europe, so you won't find them easily. The British BBC balance is overwhelmingly preferred and with good reason.

And by the way, a visit to the local Quad dealer is a must. Especially listen to their powered range.

Harbeth has quite a good presence in the US actually. There is even an online site that is an authorized dealer but can't remember the name right now.

It seems Harbeth has returned to the US after an absence. This is the Internet dealer.

The new importer is Fidelis of New Hampshire.

Well spotted!

I see Spendor now have importers also.

The best advice someone can give you is "listen to it and buy what you like best" ;)

I'm also european, but really like the ambient over here. The only thing that I don't like is their obsession with imperial units :D

Before I bought my Tannoys I didn't find too much info on them, be it on imperial, oops, american foruns or european ones. I had to search google and do a lot of searches around many AV and musician foruns, magazines and review sites.

In Berlin you should have one or more MediaMarkt stores. They usually have an audio room with a nice selection of speakers like Tannoy, MS, Kef, Celestion, Mission, B&W, MA, etc. That should give you a clue on what type of speakers you like.

I have auditioned:
Monitor audion BR2, BR5
Pure acoustics Noble F
Dali concept 6
Wharfedale Diamond 9.1, 9.2

I'm partial to the Dali. My former speakers were Jamo classic 6, so maybe I just like the Dannish sound over the UK one.

I'm deciding between the Dali concept 6 vs dali suite 2.8 (ebay).

I have listened to some others in a saturn store, but the conditions were not ideal.
