hey guys just join the AUDIOHOLICS fam. well here it goes, my room is small about 9x11, and looking for a banging system. i narrowed it down to B&W, Paradigm, and maybe klipsch, would like other suggestions as well.. my budget is no more than 6k. i recently checked out audiogon and seen some pretty good deals on some b&W 800 products. is mostly going to be movies and gaming about 85% movies and the rest gaming. so if you guys have any advice i will appreciate it thanks.

Welcome to the forum, bman! Glad that you stopped by.

My recommendation would be to audition as much as you can (well, as much as you feel like doing :)), and definitely try to audition speakers before you commit to keeping them. A lot of stores will let you bring things back, and that's the kind of low-risk purchase that I like. It's best to try them out in your room, after all.

IMO (and yes it's only my opinion) you don't need to spend $6K in a 9x11 room for a HT, and gaming system. If you where into serious 2 channel music listening, then I could see it.

If you like the sound of the B&W 800 series you might want to audition the B&W CM series.

In addition to the above posts that I agree with, I would definitely budget towards room treatments, especially in such a modest room. A bigger room could afford you longer delays, less modes, and less resonances. If you want the best in terms of performance in this room, I suggest you use plenty of bass traps, in addition to addressing reflection points. You will have to do a lot of fine tweaking of speaker positioning and listener positioning as well. If the room's acoustics are at least OK, the addition of such treatments can possibly afford you a much easier time in finding the final positions.

Some other things to consider spending on with this healthy budget. Some HT seating. If it pleases you, and I bet it might, some transducers attached, like with those made by Buttkicker or Earthquake.

You might want to investigate the possibilities of dipole or bipole surrounds. I am afraid that BW 800 series could be overkill in such a small room like that. Like really overkill, and could arguably* be a waste of money.

I would vote for bookshelves + sub for the front. If you can swing it, go with three identical bookshelves, all upright for the front. Even better is if you can get them on the same plane, but that's usually impossible to do without compromising where the display is at VS the ideal height of tweeters.

thanks for the suggestion really appreciate it, i know my room is small but i am waiting for my other room to be finished is 14x12, i would really would like to buy a half way setup at least the center, sub, rear speakers, then after buy my floorstand speakers. the room is going to take at least 6-7 months.. i just want to buy something i will not regret after:(..so tomorrow i will be auditioning some b&w, i have only heard klipsch and i really like their sound, but i have a feeling b&w has more clarity, even though is more expensive i don't care i just want something that i wont have to replace in a long time thanks. btw the rear speakers i will use as the fronts till i buy the floorstands.
