Hello,

I'm quite new at the home theater systems and such so this might be a dumb question...

Is it possible to hook EXTRA speaker up for more sound? Like i have 5 speakers and a subwoofer. Is there something that will allow me to have more speakers added to it?

Welcome. There are no dumb questions:D
Not sure what you mean or want by 'more sound.'
Do you now have a surround sound setup with that 5 speakers for a 5.1 setup? Do you have such a receiver connected into your setup?

I currently have a 5 speaker system yes.. It's a Philips . Dolby 5.1 surround sound. I'd like to ad more speakers and such to kind of get my whole room in the groove.. I love the effects of them...

You can do 7.1 pretty easily with an average joe receiver or even 10.1 with with Denon or Yammy's top-of-the-line stuff.

you could always put the speakers in series (WARNING do not put them in parallel), this will however not improve the 3d dynamics of the sound by much just give you more speakers as the sound will be split between the speaker pairs, depending on their respective impedance. :D,
doing this can also mess up the general speaker volumes though and will require more tuning.

Like it has been suggested a 7.1 av receiver is a much better way to go or a 10.1 system.

Have fun :D

Interesting. I have no idea what you all are talking about.. lol. I am very new to this..Think you can try and explain more on the 7.1 thing with me having a 5.1 system along with how this would include more speakers?

Perhaps you need to upgrade your whole system to one that can deliver the sound level you want, a more capable system.

I just bought this system.....
It might be a good idea to return it. Hopefully the vendor will take it back. It's good that it generated your interest in good sound, but it's clearly inadequate for your expectations. You can find some very good systems with a moderate budget.

maybe a different (powered) sub, maybe. what it sounds like is you bought a system that really doesnt cut it for you. mytry mentioned upgrade, you said you just bought it, so isnt returning it an option?

In order to help we could use your budget for your HT setup. I would try to sell it on Craigslist if you cannot take it back.....

Well The MOST i really would pay for one is around $500.00... I don't really want to pay that much, but IF I have to in order to get a good system then I will...

I want something that will have SURROUND sound that you can head out of every speaker and I'd like to have AT LEAST 7-8 speakers... I want something toward the "WOW" effect...

To dream the impossible dream...

While we're at it, do you know of a well built car that can cruise smoothly at at 90+ mph, sticks to the road like it's glued to it in the turns, seats at least five comfortably, gets over 34 mpg in the city, costs about $12,000 brand new and fuly loaded, and comes with a 10 year bumper-to-bumper warranty?

with that budget, you might be able to pull off a workable but modest 5.1 system if you forgo on the subwoofer for now.

You can get HT in 5. 6 ot 7 channels (plus a sub) but you'll obviously need speakers for each of those channels and not every source uses all those channels all the time. With that budget, well, ...

You might want to rethink your budget, expectations, or preferably both, and try to come to a compromise that jives with reality.

What do I mean?

What do you mean?
Well, to put it as simply and politely as possible, from the responses leading up to my initial response (which, although was a bit tounge-in-cheek, did offer solid advice), you should know by now how foolish your most current request is and that you can't get there from here.

I think you just keep ignoring the answers kindly provided by the knowledgeble and (up to a point) patient denizens of this site and keep asking more questions calculated to keep this thread alive as long as possible so you can simply get as many responses as you can.

There's a word for that behaviour. Hint: What mythical creature lives under a bridge?

A "wow factor" simply will not be achieved by simply adding more speakers. I would bet good money that two good speakers will produce more "wow" than 20 crappy ones. I would concentrate on a solid 2.0 system and build from there. Slowly add a sub, center and use what you have for the surrounds.

Okay, so... I'm going to sell the system I have.. What kind of system would be best to get with a lot of speakers that do very well with sound effects etc..
