Moving camera freezing with blu-ray

I have a PS3 connected to my Onkyo TX-NR905 with an HDMI cable then another HDMI cable for the tv Sony Bravia KDL-40X2000

Whenever i watch a DVD it plays just fine. When i get a Blu-ray playing, the camera movement isn't going that smoothly. When it's a slow moving landscape shot, it just freezes every 2 seconds or so.

What happens when you run the HDMI directly to the TV from the PS3?

First of all, I am a video noobie, and am unfamiliar with the PS3, but...

Is it set to output at 24 fps?

If so, is your display capable of handling 24 fps natively? (no pull-down applied, or no 60hz display, etc). I doubt it.

If not, disable 24fps, and see if the judder is smoothed out by avoiding possible "pull-down" issues or otherwise.

Good luck.

PS3 straight connected to the tv is fine, tried with both cables.

As I suspected. How long is the total combined length of cable to the receiver then to the TV?
Not sure if that TV has signal sensitivity issues.
Another experiment would be to try different sequence of component turn on to see if this is yet another HDMI coding issue.
At worst, you may need to go to the TV direct and use coax to the receiver for digital audio, or, the player decoded audio to the receiver.

The one between PS3 and reciever is 1m (3,3ft), the one between tv and reciever is 1,5m (5ft).
Yeah i'm thinking going with optical cable for the reciever. And hdmi for tv?

Those are two short cables, and should not be the factor. However, it does appear that the receiver has issues.
Have you tried to turn on the components in different order as that have solved some similar issues. If that doesn't solve the problem, yes, as you suggested, that will solve it.
