I am going to get a sub and I am looking at the Hsu and Svs subs as well as Cadence and Dayton. For 500 bucks what would be the best option? I know thats not alot for a sub but its what I have to work with at the moment...

Jamie, the Outlaw LFM-1 Plus can be had brand new for $499 plus S&H. If I remember correctly, the shipping was only $65. So, if you can come up with another $64 or so why not give the Plus a chance???

Cheers,

Phil

Jamie, I just came across this. For only $300 delivered to your door this one is really going to be hard to beat. Here is a link for you my friend:

I mean a 500 watt amp and a 12" driver it is not too shabby. The only drawback is it may not extend low enough for you. For musical purposes, it will be more than adequate. Even with ht, it will still knock your socks off so to speak.

Cheers,

Phil

What about the PB10? Is the PB12 that much of a leap over the PB10?

Yes it is. At least in my living-room it was. The PB10 may be just a bit tighter sounding. But down deep, there really is no comparison as the PB12 was noticeably better. In other words, the PB12 just has more output over-all especially down real deep.

Cheers,

Phil

Thanks Phil, I like that as well even though it only goes to 28hz. I might have a try with the Dayton. I am going to search a little more. The infinity is they right price but I am not sure on the wattage. I may want a 1000 watt sub. Like I said I just gotta do a little more investigating. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions.

i actually have that on my bookmark :)

yes, there's only so much output a 10 can do. the 10 is perfect for rooms less than 2k (even for me)

jamie, ignore the amp power for the ported subwoofers, they're not that indicative of the performance.

Hey Jamie, I've done a flip flop the past several days:eek:. I've looked into Outlaw & Hsu products but shipping all but kills any deals for me. I also checked out PSB's and Energy subs and I have decided on the SVS pb10 as the best value for my money. I know some of the guys recommended the pb12, but I just can't swing that deal at this time and I really want a sub NOW!!

PS: Living up here we are very limited and dollar for dollar there is only one choice.
Good Luck, Bill:)

PS: I just want to thank all the guys who helped me(they know who they are;)).

Do a search on this, and the other forums (soundandvisionmag, avs) for information about the Titanic drivers. I have never built a kit myself, but have read a bunch of positive threads about them.

My vote's in for an Hsu. A few months ago I bought a STF-2 and it really cranks. It produces more bottom than you might expect for 200 watts and remains effective down to the upper 20's hz. You get them through the web, $349 plus $33 shipping. It's a fine sub and will leave change from your $500.
