Hi guys, So i'm sure this may seem like an easy question to some but i know nothing about computers, so....

I have a denon 888 reciever and i would like to be able to play things off my computer...which is downstairs.
Someone said i would need an additional computer upstairs to set up a network and that the comp. upstairs just needs to have a soundcard to connect to the reciever??
Can someone please please give me some guidance or a link, i dont even understand how i would access the songs...

Airport Express

http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/

Plug it in right next to your stereo.

Take either the mini jack-optical or mini jack-RCA right into your reciever downstairs.

It also can extend your wireless network or if you don't have a wireless network it will serve as an access point to enable you to have one (just run a network cable from your switch to your airport express).

It play music wirelessly from Itunes and with the new Iphone/ipod touch you can get a free application that turns your phone/touch into a remote control for itunes from anywhere in your house.

You can use the built in USB port for a printer server (plug in printer and all computers in your house can print to it).

Plus its only $99

If you want movies and games I suggest either an Xbox 360 for streaming from your Media Center PC or simply wait a year or so. The 360 costs about what the other systems cost but also enables gaming for kids or yourself, media downloads through Xbox live and the media extender that syncs with your PC to stream (wirelessly with adapter) music, movies and pictures.

Samsung, sony and several other media giants have just decided on a wireless standard for TVs, Camcorders, game systems etc. Once this is implemented you will be able to wirelessly stream music, pictures, movies, tvshows from your PC or other handheld devices straight to any TV with this wireless built into them.

That is why I wasn't going to recommend the Airport. That and I didn't know if he had an iPhone/iPod Touch.
