I agree, but it is probably out of his budget, the prices are higher in Canada. For the PB-12 the cheapest one retails for $699.00 on that site. Not sure if that price even includes the sales tax here in Canada and the shipping charge. You could be potentially looking at $800-$900 dollars for the PB-12.
The PB12 is cheaper than the SB12. Does the OP have size constraints?

Hi Guys; I am new to the forums here and I already have one question

A shop in my city has 2 subs I was interested in. I was wondering which one will be the best performer. Keep in mind I use my system for equal parts music and home theater.

Option 1 - Klipsch RW10D
Option 2 - Energy S10.3

The Klipsch is $700 tax in and the energy is $600 tax in. The $100 difference really doesn't mean anything in terms of which one I will choose.

Thanks all!
Before choosing a sub, first make sure its practical in your listening space. You will notice forum members jumping on with immediate recommendations for online subwoofer solutions most of which are 2-3 times the size of the ones you are considering. Its easy to not realize this until you get the product home and its too late. Klipsch and Energy make great performing compact subs. If that is what you are after, you may also want to consider the new Sunfire and Velodyne products as well. If space isn't an issue and you care more about raw SPL on the cheap, then definately consider the online brands mentioned in this thread.

Though I highly recommend considering 2 smaller subs which if properly placed in your room will yield superior performance across the entire listening area instead of limited to 1 or 2 seats.

I must not have been into audio when they did.
Agreed b/c the new Klipsch and Energy high compression subs are well engineered, though its probably not that evident as it like pulling teeth to get review units. Since Sunfire lost the lawsuit patent on small long throw drivers, other companies are now producing excellent products as well. There is life after SVS and AV123 you know Mazer

SVS was my last recommendation after AV123, PSB, and Martin Logan.

I always try to recommend whats best for the OP's situation. Just not my personal favorites. Who do you think I am DefTec, O never mind.

In a 13x17 room, SVS PB10 at $499+ tax + shipping is what you're looking for. Check the measurement of the sub and see if it's not too big. At that price, there's nothing in Canada that comes close to touching it for the price.

Go with the PB12 if you don't mind the price and have the room for it.

You might want to take a trip down to your local future shop and audition the Velodyne DPS-12. I picked one up for $499 on sale (reg 699) and no shipping required. I am going to pick up another one this week for a dual setup. It's not on sale right now but the salesman is going to sell it to me for 549. I am very happy with the sub for my 85% movie watching. Hard hitting bass that is very clean and can also easily shake all of the walls in my three storey house from the basement. IMO, it is the best sub that I could find locally in that price range after testing them all (Klipsch, energy, polk etc.)
